Homosexuality In Social Work
Social work is always dominated by tensions because of the conflicting interest and competing rights between social workers and service users. Furthermore, there are guidelines drawn to establish certain standards and conducts of social workers.These guidelines or “ professional code of ethics and values”(HCPC) are often different to our personal values and as Beckett and Maynard assert, “are a challenge to our identity as difference is seen as a threat”.(Beckett et al, pg,170).Consequently, I am aware that certain aspects of my personal and religious identity such as on abortion and sexuality will conflict with my professional value.My religious beliefs informs me that to commit abortion is morally wrong and any sexuality apart from heterosexuality
