Homework Is Bad
Homework was created in the early 1900s so that kids would not forget what they learned in class and could get extra practice, but it is not a good thing because without it students will have more time to exercise or get a full night of sleep, and it will make kids mentally healthier.

Homework is bad because kids will not have enough time to get exercise or a good night's sleep. Abeles study shows, “Only 8% of teenagers get the recommended nine or more hours of sleep” (Abeles, 2016). If homework keeps kids up late and they cannot get the full nine or more hours of sleep that are recommended, they will be tired in school and will not be able to focus in class very good making their grades go down. Abeles tells that, “Even in preschools, research has found that children get only 48 minutes a day for free and active play” (Abeles, 2016). In preschool children tend to be more active than when

According to Abeles, “Under the surface students suffer from depression” (Abeles, 2016). If students suffer from depression their grades can be negatively affected, their social life can also be affected in a negative way, and in some situation students may turn to self harm. Self harm could keep students out of school and make their grades suffer. Abeles writes, “He had anonymously surveyed two-thirds of Irvington's 2,100 students last spring, using two standard measures, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. The results were stunning … 80 percent suffered moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety from excessive amounts of homework” (Abeles, 2016). Students that have anxiety can be extremely affected in school. Students will have a hard time studying for a test or quiz because they can only worry about the test or quiz and will result in a poor grade on the test or quiz. On the other hand, most people will think that homework can help students with

Moreover, homework isn't only wasting the student's time but the teachers time as well. By marking and grading homework, teachers are wasting their time. So teachers, please don't blame us the we wasted your time. Some people assume that homework is useful for teachers to watch student's progress but I firmly believe that homework is sent home to test the parents, not the children. I think that teachers can watch the student's progress in school better because teachers don't know that at home who did the homework, the parent, the student or the internet (Google)??????? People also think that homework helps parents to understand that the school holds high goals for students. But, I consider that school work is harder than homework and that means that parents can understand that the school holds higher goals than they think. Furthermore, homework becomes terrible if no one can help you. If no one can help you then you are doing work that you don’t understand, and if you don’t understand it what’s the point having the work that you can’t even do. I really, strongly believe that more kids would stay in school and have a better learning experience if they did not have the stress of homework.…

Homework doesn't take all day; realistically you will have time for other things. Homework allows practice for future endeavors, and teaches responsibility and organization skills. Homework allows children to work at their own pace, without peer pressure and afraid of falling behind during class. Homework allows time to study for tests, and go over work that you did in class. Reason being yes I understand that different classes have different papers and some have more worksheets than others but…

To begin with, homework is taking way family time and fun time from students. Because students get a lot of homework they no longer have time to spend time with their family or have their own free time. After a long day in school, two hours of swimming, and an hour of playing on an instrument, dinner time hits and we drown in homework. Seven hours of school alone is draining for a daily life of a student. On our way home we carry the weight of our backpacks as if we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. Piling homework will only encourage students to put it off. All students procrastinate because they feel overwhelmed with the workload. It feels daunting to start work which is why homework can even lead to cheating which leads to poor study habits. Being prone to cheating and having an insufficient amount of study habits will only lead to a fixed mindset.…

Kids should have less homework because they are using all of their time at home doing homework instead of doing something productive. The average student gets around 75% of homework each day. In class you do lots of non-stop work. Then you go home and do the same thing for 5 days. All that work could easily put you under pressure which makes you do your homework all wrong and you don't notice until you get to school. All that pressure could also fail you on a test. When you're trying to do your homework you're also studying for a test.…

The clock hits 7:30 and I just get home and haven’t been home all day. Then I realize that I have to do English homework, social studies, science and math. This has happened to me many times. The second reason we shouldn’t have homework is it is a major health issue for most kids. First off, you get less sleep because some teens have to stay up all night because they get home late and still have to do a lot of homework. Students in middle school need a lot of sleep because they have to wake up at 6:00. People say that kids from ages 10-18 need at least 8-9 hours of sleep and some teens only get 6-7 because there up so late doing homework. The second reason homework is a health issue is it gives kids a lot of stress because they have to do homework and don’t want to forget anything. This gives students more stress because they already have stress from tests, lessons and exams. The last reason why homework is a health issue is kids…

Once again in the article “Back to School: Why Homework Is Bad for Kids” by John Buell. John informs that “Harris Cooper, a close student of the subject, reports that "The conclusions of past reviewers of homework research show extraordinary variability... Even in regard to specific areas of application such as within different subject areas, grades or student ability levels, the reviews often directly contradict one another."” This is also is important because the various studies have never proven that the increase in homework mean nothing but more work for the students.…

Also, based on the article, “No More Homework?,” in paragraph 3, the author states that parents have been pushing back against homework. They believe that their children need more time for family and other activities. Sometimes my parents do not appreciate that fact that I have a lot of homework because it means I have less time for my family and activities, such as going to parties and going out. Finally, homework often has a bad effect on students. According to the article “No More Homework?,” in paragraph 8, the author says, “The disadvantages of homework are clear to everyone such as exhaustion, frustration, loss of time to pursue other interests, and often a decrease of interest in learning."…

Depression and anxiety comes from all the work the students have to do at school. Coming home with the same amount of work and class work piled on top if you did not finish in class can cause mental breakdowns or anxiety. This has come to many students telling themselves they cannot finish the work and that will lead to cheating and plagiarizing, or they know they will not do well so they decide to copy off the smarter persons work. Homework can also lead to kids not having the right kind of childhood because of how many hours they spend doing homework instead of playing outside and having a personal life. Homework in school is not needed and should be taken away because it is not beneficial for kids and their well being. “I do not know anybody who said, 'I love that teacher, he or she gave a really good homework set,' or 'Boy, that was the best class I ever took because those exams were awesome. That is not what people want to talk about. It is not what influences people in one profession or another. “ says Neil deGrasse Tyson. Kids want to come home and relax from the hard day, not do more…

Homework has been around for as long as there have been tax paying schools. The first person to create homework was Robert Nevilis from Italy in 1905 (Roberto). Over the years that homework has been around, people have gotten different impressions and opinions on the topic. Most students believe it is way too much and unnecessary. Teachers believe that homework is very useful and beneficial for the students. While other faculty members believe it is a waste of time. Teachers and students are not the only ones with mixed emotions on this topic (NEA). Parents can also relate. Homework should be reduced because it can interfere with family time and cause tension, it can cause health problems and…

Homework is like a resource you need, it 's necessary, but should be reduced in order to be use for studying. A lot of homework could cause students to do it to get it done, instead of learning the valuable information it gives you. This is why homework should get reduced .One problem about homework is that students will have less time in their life to do daily activities. This would mean less time to help with family, play sports, talk with friends and go out to places. The minimize in time for homework would be important .Even thought homework takes too much time it could also cause stress. In my POV(Point of View) I think homework causes me to lose memory instead of gain memory because it takes too much time and the information I 'm getting from the homework is not getting absorbed thoroughly in my mind. Cited with resource homework could give a child obesity problem because the time they spend on it instead of going outside. Fifty-five percent of the Massachusetts children surveyed by researchers at Simmons College carry loads heavier than fifteen percent of their body weight, the suggested limit.…

I would refuse to allow the school to assign students homework. It is not simply the fact that kids are overworked. There are three other reasons why homework would be banned at school. Students learn nothing from doing homework, school already takes six hours of the day from a student, and homework is an infringement on family time.…
