1. What is the purpose of your text? Within this, state clearly what is the form of your text is and why?
The purpose of my text is to show the reader a first person point of view about an affluent business man who becomes homeless because of his antics and addiction to alcohol. Through the experience he faces realising the magnitude of the lack of consideration and care for the homeless. Which he never noticed due to his stable lifestyle. The purpose of making it a short story instead of a feature article which would show statistics, facts and expert opinions. Although both seek to provoke an emotional response. I believe that a short story can achieve this on a personal level with the reader. Unlike a feature article which only informs a reader about the writer’s opinion on the issue.

Regarding historical context, it does not affect the main character, Jared, excessivly however homelessness is a growing problem in modern society. As there is apporximatly 1 in 200 people who are homeless in Australia, this statistic provided by kuc.org.au. Character context is important for the reader as it allows the reader to interact with the character. Learn about them, understand their beliefs and values. I created Jared as an ignorant man who does not think of anyone but himself, which is shown through his descisions he continously commits to. He has no morals and is not religious, he blames everyone but himself. A very prideful man who refuses to confess he needed help with his addiction. He has a sudden shift of value and belief as he realises he is homeless after he divorced his wife. This is when he sees the magnitude of homelessness in his city and how he had never seen it
