Home Automation System Analysis
Abstract The Home Automation Profile supports a various of devices for the home along with lighting, heating and cooling, and widely accepted for multiple needs. It is the automatic or semi-automatic control and monitoring of household appliances and residential house features like doors, gate and even the windows. Hence the Home Automation profile allow a greater range of control and integration of different devices in the home by automatic. These systems use PC, mobile internet, GSM Bluetooth and ZigBee network etc.Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ZigBee are the popular choice for such systems. The zigbee can receive the voice and send the voice data to the ARM9 controller and then the controller converts the voice into required format …show more content…
This is a demonstration of how to design and build a multi-purpose wireless system that can switch OFF and ON any electrical household appliance depending on the voice produced by the user. Home automation is one of the major growing industries that can change the way people live. Some of these home automation systems target those seeking luxury and sophisticated home automation platforms; others target those with special needs like the elderly and the disabled. The aim of the reported Wireless Home Automation System (WHAS) is to provide those with special needs with a system that can respond to voice commands and control the on/off status of electrical devices, such as lamps, fans, television etc, in the home. The system should be reasonably cheap, easy to configure, and easy to run. There have been several commercial and research projects on smart homes and voice recognition systems. Many new communication technologies such as GSM/GPRS networks, wireless sensor networks, Bluetooth, power line carriers and the Internet have been applied to home automation. For example, wireless sensor networks based on ZigBee protocol is widely used in smart homes and it has become the focus in this field. It consists of comfort and home automation, security and safety at home, ambient assistance (intelligence) and remote health …show more content…
Figure 1 shows an integrated platform for home security, monitoring and automation (SMA) from uControl. The system is a 7-inch touch screen that can wirelessly be connected to security alarms and other home appliances. The home automation through this system requires holding and interacting with a large panel which constraints the physical movements of the user. Another popular commercially available system for home automation is from Home Automated Living (HAL). HAL software taps the power of an existing PC to control the home. It provides speech command interface. A big advantage of this system is it can send

The primarily responsibility is monitoring and controlling the numerous alarm "input" devices (manual and automatic detection modules) and then triggering the appropriate alarm "output" devices (horns, bells, warning lights, emergency telephone dialers, and building controls) (Gagnon, 2008). Control panels often run the gambit from single input and output units, to high-tech computer systems that can monitor numerous structures that spread out over campuses depending on requirements. The two most common control panel designs are conventional and addressable. Both of which are further detailed…

monitoring, and health care [34]. In ZigBee, IEEE 802.15.4 is utilized as the communication protocol for the medium access control (MAC) layer and physical (PHY) layer [2], and supports low data-rate (i.e., 20kbps, 40kbps, and 250kbps). Such low transmission rate and low-cost characteristics make ZigBee suitable for wireless systems comprising unsupervised groups of devices in houses, factories and offices. To facilitate ZigBee network deployment, most devices are unplugged, and rather operated by batteries. Additionally, the target environments in…

A desirable system should be capable of taking care of the patients from all aspects, covering personalized medication, vital signs monitoring, on-site diagnosis, and interaction with remote physicians. In addition, the existing systems seldom integrate new materials or apply new manufacturing approaches, which are always the key elements for bringing new devices or solutions into healthcare fields. By considering the aforementioned issues, an intelligent home-based healthcare IoT system, iHome Health-IoT, is proposed here with the concept of the iHome Health-IoT System. An intelligent medicine box (iMedBox) serves as a home healthcare gateway. IoT devices [e.g., wearable sensors and intelligent medicine packaging (iMedPack)] are seamlessly connected to the iMedBox via a heterogeneous network, which is compatible with multiple existing wireless standards. The body-worn Bio-patch can detect and transmit the user’s bio-signals to the iMedBox in real time. The iMedPack is connected with the iMedBox via an RFID link to assist the users with their prescribed medication. All the collected information is interpreted, stored, and displayed locally on the iMedBox. The processed information can also be forwarded to the Health-IoT network for a clinical diagnosis or further analysis. One major contribution of the proposed iHome Health-IoT system is that it dramatically expands the scope and coverage of traditional healthcare information systems (HIS), extending from a confined hospital environment to a patient’s home and body. By doing so, the overall healthcare system could be optimized at the top level, turning from the conventional Enterprise resource Planning into the Entire Resource Planning…

Over the last decade Internet has made significant impact in our economies and societies by bringing in remarkable communication and networking infrastructure. The world-wide web has been a major driver of global information and media sharing. From Desktop networking Internet is continuing to become more pervasive, with the advent of low cost wireless broadband connectivity, by connecting to new embedded devices and handhelds. In continuation with this trend, it is poised to emerge as an “Internet of Things” where the web will provide a medium for physical world objects to participate in interaction. This way the digital information technology can integrate the physical world to the online world to provide a common interaction platform. The Internet of Things (IOT) describes a worldwide network of intercommunicating devices. It integrates the ubiquitous communications, pervasive computing, and ambient intelligence. At this point (IOT) must be seen as a vision where "things", especially everyday objects, such as nearly all home appliances but also furniture, clothes, vehicles, roads and smart materials, and more, are readable, recognisable, locatable, addressable and/or Power Source Location controllable via the Internet. This will provide the basis for many new Sensors Identification applications, such as energy monitoring, transport safety systems Internet of or building security. This Actuators Devices Things vision will surely change with time, especially as synergies between Identification Computing Storage Technologies, Wireless Sensor Networks, Communication Intelligent Devices and Nanotechnology will enable a number of advanced applications. innovative use of technologies such as RFID, NFC, ZigBee and Bluetooth, and are contributing to create a value proposition for Internet of Things stakeholders…

The system provides availability due to development of a low cost system. The home appliances control system with an affordable cost was thought to be built that should be mobile providing remote access to the appliances and allowing home security. Though devices connected as home and office appliances consume electrical power. These devices should be controlled as well as turn on/off if required. Most of the times it was done manually. Now it is a necessity to control devices more effectively and efficiently at…
