Hollis Woods is a young girl who has been to so many foster homes. She is a girl who can often get into trouble a lot . Hollis loves to paint anything around her that she likes. She is a great artist like she is told later on in the story. She got an offer to stay with the Regans family, located in the middle of the woods, near a lake, mountains and hills. She ends up staying there for the summer and enjoys it there. She likes the home and becomes friends with Steve Regan (Mrs. and Mr. Regan’s son). One day Mr. Regan gave Hollis a drawing book with many colored pencils from when he was younger. A couple of days later Mr. and Mrs. Regan left Steve and Hollis at home until 5 o’clock. Hollis went to the mountains to draw the great view. Steve told her to make sure she comes back by 5 o’clock. As time passed by it was close to 5 o’clock and Steve began to worry that Hollis wouldn’t be home on time. Steve took his dad’s truck and began searching for Hollis. While going up the mountains, Steve notices Hollis and he got her attention by honking the horn. She got inside the car and they began driving.
