The Holland Code Assessment helped me to find my key interests. My top interest was in the conventional area. Before I took the assessment, I had a strong desire to have all the areas of my life structured. I find myself to be “by the book” at times, but I do exercise flexibility when it counts. When it comes to my work as a waitress for BJ’s Restaurants, I have to multitask, which can often be challenging. What makes my job easier is when I have the tables in my station served with a game plan. Whenever I am organized at work, it really makes accomplishing tasks faster and enables me to carry out my restaurant’s reputation of great guest service. I also do bookkeeping part time for my restaurant. From a young age, I had always admired my Mom because she was a Los Angeles city employee for thirty-one years. I liked to hear about her experiences working within the different departments over the years. Even though she has passed on, I feel that she left me a part of her through my desire to work in the human resources and administrative fields. Bookkeeping makes me feel like I do office work for the corporation, and it gives me the feel that I am closer to my career field in the company. A close second interest is in the artistic field. I feel that being creative is a great skill to have because it helps to discover new ideas and new methods of problem solving. I feel that being artistic doesn’t mean you have to know how to draw or paint. In my opinion, I think that art can be expressed though your own personal gifts, such as being a creative writer or being a motivational speaker. I feel that the drawing aspect of life is very important to me because as a child, no matter where I was, I could always pick up a pencil and a piece of paper and visit a different
