Piedmont Henry is located at 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway in Stockbridge, Georgia. Piedmont Henry is a 215 bed, not for profit, acute care, community hospital. “Piedmont Henry is committed to delivering high-quality care to the community of Stockbridge” (Piedmont.org, 2014).
Piedmont Henry offers its patients 24-hour emergency care plus medical, surgical and diagnostic services including cancer care, heart care, orthopedic care, women’s care and wound care. They also offer other outpatient services. Piedmont Henry is an accredited chest pain facility. They were evaluated by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) for their ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack (Piedmont.org, 2014).
Epic Software supports physicians, nurses and others on the team. Piedmont Henry has over 400 physicians that are on staff. By using Epic, physicians can access patient’s information in multiple ways. Employed physicians of the hospital can access Epic Care Ambulatory EMR, Community Physicians via a shared record-connecting Affiliates, Community Physicians via record exchange- Epic Interoperability, Paper-based Physicians via Web portal-Epic Care Link (Piedmont.org, 2014). According to Patrick Coleman, M.D. at Piedmont Henry they believe that “one chart for one patient”, will improve patient safety by reducing errors and redundancy.
Piedmont Henry also has 500 nurses on staff. Nurses are able to access the Software. For the nurses the system offers collapsible flow sheets for nursing documentation and a clinical synopsis graph of vitals and clinical events (Piedmont.org, 2014).
The Patient Portal assists in building relationships between the patients and their physician. Patients can access information, request appointments, fill out forms and ask their doctor’s questions. Patients access their records via My
