History Of Today's Social Workers
From do gooders and busy bodies historically, today’s social workers help, assist and support individuals and families in society that need help in their day to day life. Protecting those in need who are unable to help themselves.
Developed from three strands: Individual casework, social administration otherwise known as poverty relief as a result of the English Poor Laws passed in the 1600’s and lastly, social action whereby political action was focused on community working to improve social conditions originally introduced by Jane Abbott's settlement houses.
