What other words besides big, oversized, & colorful would describe the 1980’s fashion better? Big curls, neon tights, leg warmers, & how could you forget the blue eyeshadows & bright lipstick? From afros to perms to cover girl to clinque were popular things & brands were popular in this decade. The 1980s introduced anywhere from skin tight pants to Mchammer pants. In the 1980s lots of historical and politics were happening that affected fashion in a way. “In the decade of 1980 US President Jimmy Carter authorizes legislation giving 1.5 million in loans to bail out the chrysler corporation. Also in 1980 again Jimmy carter signs a bill requiring 19 and 20-year-old males to register for a peacetime military draft, in response to Soviet …show more content…
There were around for top designer jeans everybody wanted first brand were “Gloria Vanderbilt” her style was recognizable & skin tight! Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were dark, rich blue, or black with white top stitching. Second top brand was “Jordache” jeans, also like Gloria Vanderbilt jeans they had to be that super dark denim with white top stitching. Third top brand being “Calvin Klein” jeans, they were youthful jeans, edgy & scandalous, there commercials were memorable thanks to Brooke Shields. Last but not least the forth top brand was “Guess” jeans, their jeans styles varied from acid wash jeans to shredding & shotgunning. In the 1980’s fashion was also influenced by the Western economic boom. “Youth culture stop hogging the scene as a teenage market loss impetus. Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy Reagan in the USA celebrated presidential success with the style that use fashionable conspicuous clothes & social events to display the influence of Americans society to a world audiences.
