Nora Aunor was very talented; she has a good talent in singing, and can act only using her eyes to express the feeling that she had inside her heart. She was a result of her own experiences in her life, she did not even studied how to act the she acts, she just practices her talent during film makings (Contreras, 2014, par. 5) This is why President NoyNoy cannot just disregard her in being a National Artist, and because of this Filipinos collected 1 Million signatures to name Nora Aunor as “Peoples National Artist” (Dioquino, 2014, par. 1). Furthermore, Nora Aunor started the changes on our current artist’s generation by being an inspiration to them for what she did and on how she …show more content…
It is not right to base if she will not become a National Artist on what had happened to her before (Montemayor, 2014, par. 5). This experience for Nora Aunor may lessen her self-confidence if she will be nominated again in a certain award, because she might think that what had happened to her before can be used to her so that she cannot win the award. Nevertheless, the National Artist award has its own objectives or categories that will be used to judge a person if she is qualified on being a National

American art historian Linda Nochlin’s essay Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists was published in 1988. This essay asks why artistic “greatness” and professional credit has been historically reserved solely for white Western males. While the titled seems facetious, it demonstrates Nochlins’ humor on a complicated issue grounded in social constructs, inequality and sexism. Nochlin notes that the question itself assumes that women are “incapable of greatness.” This assumption is what sparks Nochlin to explore the history of artistic institutions and education systems. From the Rennaisance up until the end of the nineteenth…

In the play, A Doll House, Nora Helmer is a house wife who experiences an unexpected event with her husband, Torvald, which led to a whole new understanding of her life and what she was going to do with it. Nora would always try to do anything that she could to please her husband so that she would always keep him happy towards her and never give him a reason to leave her because she felt that she loved him so much and she would not know what to do without him. Nora would constantly lie to make sure that Torvald was happy and she would make sure that he would not find out. At the beginning of the play, Nora was being accused by Torvald of eating macaroons and she stated “You know I could never think of going against you” (I). This was just the start of the lies that Nora would tell Torvald just to make him happy. In the middle of the play, Mr. Krogstad told her husband about a major lie that she had told and it led to her questioning her lifestyle and the people who were in it. At the end of the play, Nora learned that she never really loved Torvald, she was just his doll, and that they had never had a serious conversation in all their years of marriage.…

Individuals can just develop and create, or develop once they confront the truth of their life and the substances in the public arena. In part 1, Nora is minimal more than a tyke assuming a part; she is a "doll" possessing a doll's home, a tyke who has traded a father for a spouse without changing or developing in any capacity. By and by, through the course of the play, she is at last compelled to defy the truth of the life she is living. Nora acknowledges in the last demonstration of A Doll's Home that in the event that she needs the chance to add to a way of life as a grown-up, she must abandon her spouse's home. At the point when Nora at long last surrenders her fantasy for a "marvel" and, rather, acknowledges the truth of her spouse's failings, she at long last steps toward development. Her choice to leave is a challenging one that demonstrates the earnestness of Nora's craving to develop into an autonomous grown-up.…

In conclusion, Maya Angelou’s hard work and dedication has proven that she is one of the single most important American literary figures of our time. Her literary and physical labors in poetry, literature, directing, and playwriting, have been the cause for change in two generations. Maya’s voice has truly been the song her Caged Bird sings, and she says it best in a tribute to a well known author: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."…

So then, “why have there been no great women artists?” Nochlin (1988), writes that to ask this question “falsifies the nature of the issue at the same time that it insidiously supplies its own answer: “There are no great women artists because women are incapable of greatness” (p. 147). Nochlin argues that this question cannot be answered by sifting through history in search of records of great female artist as this only strengthens the negative implication of the question itself. Nochlin suggests changing our perspective in order to understand this phenomenon.…

From the first moments of her entrance, the audience perceives Nora Helmer as a spoiled, childish young woman. She is revealed as a loving woman who wants to spoil her family with more Christmas gifts that she may be able to afford. She also continues to eat macaroons in secret, deliberately against her husband’s wishes, which shows a child’s stubbornness and determination. Throughout Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll House, Nora Helmer grows from what the audience perceives as a flighty, immature child to a level-headed, mature woman.…
