With the monumental use of gold all throughout the palace, many found the palace to be a show of the monarchy’s avarice; others simply found the palace to be intimidating. The palace was originally built to be a summer home for the royal family, and it was originally built in 1717. Empress Elizabeth had the palace rebuilt in 1756 because she thought it was outdated. When it was rebuilt, it was designed in a more Rococo style, which is where all the excessive gold, porcelain, and other riches came to be prominently on display. Louis XIV (The Sun King) built Versailles to be his home. To Louis XIV, a magnificent palace was a must for royal life. All of the kings and nobles had to have wonderfully decorated palaces, with beautiful paintings, ballrooms, and expensive furniture. In order for Louis XIV to have such a wonderful palace he hired an architect names Le Vau and a painter/decorator named Charles le Brun. These two men made plans to build a palace that would, including gardens, cover a total of 37,000 acres. Over the period of time that they built the palace, 400 new sculptures were added along with 1,400 fountains. (Still that was not enough for King Louis XIV).…

Thousands of people put there time and energy into crafting a magnificent home for the royal family that they will never exist in. I thought it was so typical of Louis XIV to live with his many mistresses in the same home as his children and wife. The palace is a historic status symbol that is permanently reminding France of Louis XIV impact on architecture and art. After Versailles was built it became the inspiration for much more building during the time but also in our modern day, it is still being cherished.…

The riverine country of Bangladesh (“Land of the Bengals”) is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, and its people are predominantly Muslim. As the eastern portion of the historical region of Bengal, the area once formed, along with what is now the Indian state of West Bengal, the province of Bengal in British India. With the partition of India in 1947, it became the Pakistani province of East Bengal (later renamed East Pakistan), one of five provinces of Pakistan, separated from the other four by 1,100 miles (1,800 km) of Indian territory. The Ideal Palace was built by Ferdinand Cheval in 1879. Ferdinand Cheval was born in 1836 in Charmes-sur-l 'Herbasse, Drôme, France and worked as a postal worker for the beginning of his life. He began building the Ideal Palace in April 1879 and it took him thirty-three years to complete. At the time, the main labor force were farmers so growing up, Ferdinand had a descent life as a postal worker. During that time, being a postal worker was considered middle class so finances were not much of a problem for Cheval and his family. During the mid 1800‘s, there was a lot of turmoil in France. Even with all of the turmoil going on at the time, Ferdinand Cheval was able to build one of the most majestic and beautiful palaces in all of the world which is an extraordinary accomplishment. What is very impressive was that Ferdinand Cheval constructed and built the palace all on his own without any body else’s help at all. This shows how amazing it was that Cheval was able to build the palace the size that it was and with all the detail that Cheval put into it. On creating the palace, Ferdinand said, “In creating this rock, I wanted to show what will power can do” (Ferdinand Chavel 1). And this is exactly what he did and he was rewarded and his accomplishments have been recognized with millions of tourists coming to view the palace throughout the years.…
