High School Transition Research Paper
I applied to be a Link Crew member, which is a class where juniors and seniors help freshmen with their high school transition. What caused my failure is that when I was writing my essay and when I did my interview, I focused on my high school transition rather than what would I do to make freshmen's high school transition easier. Instead of telling my teachers what I would do to make freshmen feel more comfortable, to get involved, and how to keep them updated, I told my teachers about how I felt during my high school transition and that I did not want freshmen to feel the same way. This experience relates to the way I imagine myself in college because I feel that I will always be focusing on myself, on what do I have to do to keep good grades

Some Sumer activities that I like to do or achieve for the school break are having fun with my friends and family and play. On really hot days we go down to the lake and play in the water or go fishing. I also like to play with my dog and go for walks with her if I'm not dragging her all the way there and back. Sometimes I do work with my dad most of the times it involves a lot of elbow grease. I love to do fun activities with my mom that does relate a little work, at the end she gets us a treat. On the days I'm not doing anything I go out with friends or they come to my house, and if I'm good we go to get air, other wise, we just watch movies and relax. On other days when we are in the garden I like to swim, maybe even play with the sprinklers and bother my brothers.…

One example of how a setting may prepare young children is by using a teddy or a role-play to act out the situations that may occur during a transition. Using a teddy may indirectly allow the child to express their concerns and fears about what their new setting may be like. Role-play is an effective tool for young children to engage in, so that they can act out what may happen in their new setting and how best to confront any problems that they may encounter.…

The transition from home to an early years setting may start when the family visits the early years setting, or through a home visit. A home visit or a visit to the setting before a child starts there gives the staff a chance to find out what the parents are expecting from the setting. All this helps parents and children to make the transition from being at home to starting in a group setting. Parents and child often appreciate having a booklet of their own to keep and this can build into a record of the child’s time with the setting. This often helps a child to make future transitions. When settling a child and family, transitions are made easier if there is sensitivity about the way gestures are used and body language such as eye contact.…

I have learned many things about transitions which will help me with my practice in the future. I have learnt that transitions can affect different children in different ways. From witnessing a transition of children starting nursery for the first time, I understood that different children react in different ways. Some children weren’t bothered at all by the transition from being with their parents all the time to not seeing them for three hours a day as they attended nursery. Other children were really affected by this transition. Some children were upset and didn’t enjoy their first experience in nursery. I was surprised as I thought all children would react in the same way to a transition this major. My learning has changed my practice as now I understand more of way children react differently in…

Transitions are hard enough on children, let alone adapting to a whole new ball game of expectations and rules. The article that I focused on for this assignment is about surveying 132 parents and caregivers in the Northeast. The survey was sent out and seeking information about the concerns and thoughts of the preparation for children who are transitioning into kindergarten. The results that this article gave, stated that parents wanted more information and involvement in the transition to kindergarten. (Transition to K.) Parents were finding themselves to be blind sighted by the expectations and how to prepare their child for such a dramatic change in environments.…

Looking back at my short seventeen years of life, my last five years after I moved to the states were the transition from a middle school sixth grader with a total dissatisfaction of the world to a future engineer of the world. Many middle school students have that moment of their lives as they go through puberty, and I was one of them. Puberty was not just about becoming sexually mature for me, but it was rather the most difficult time of my life due to the language barrier and the process of adaptation into the new culture. After hearing my middle school anecdotes about some mean middle school boys made sexual jokes about me in the middle of the cafeteria because they thought I could not understand English, many people suggested that I should…

Volunteering for youth causes has always been a passion of mine, but I had always viewed that passion as a separate entity to my professional career. After four years of working in corporate environments and not feeling that I am making a positive impact on the world, I have decided to answer my calling and make my passion a career. Everyone’s journey is different and my decision to make the transition to education, was not a whimsical resolution. I believe that education is the key to making the world a better place. I want to be able to inspire and effect the lives of students, the way my life was affected by my teachers.…

87 percent of high school teens are not getting the sleep that is recommended for a healthy lifestyle. Because school starts at an early time the time for sleep is compressed to a point where their minds and bodies are not ready to be awake ( Richter, Ruthann). Due to having a cell phones teens are staying up later after doing homework to check their social media account, talk to family members, and to catch up on the new they missed out on in school With the academic stress that is put on to teenagers in this day and age many come home from various practices and jobs just to do four to five hours of homework from advanced classes or even extra work from level classes. School should reduce the amount of homework given every night and have time in each class dedicated to working on homework or schools should have more time in the school dedicated to…
