High School Football Argumentative Essay
High school football, is it too dangerous to be played in high school? Many will say that it isn’t and it is entertaining to watch, others will argue that it is far too dangerous for high school athletes and that they can seriously get injured or worse can result in death. While both sides have good arguments, high school football is way too dangerous for high school athletes. Serious injury can occur on and off the field.
Football, which is one of the most popular sports in the United States, is also the leading cause of sports related injuries. On page twenty two, source one it states that “During the 2005-06 season, high school players sustained more than half a million injuries nationally.”. More than half a million injuries nationally.

On page twenty five, source two it states that “Concussions are more dangerous for teenagers because, studies show, their brain tissue is less developed than adults’ and more easily damaged. High school players also typically receive less expert medical care than college or pro players, or none at all. No expert medical care “AT ALL” for high school football players. Adding in all the injuries that can come with playing football this doesn’t help it’s case.
However, considering that extra precautions can be added to high schools football such as extra oversight, having doctors and trainers on the field, using standardized concussion tests to determine if an injured player is ready to return, and monitoring injured players long term. That doesn’t automatically make high school football more safe. Serious injury no matter how much precaution can still happen during play. The rules of football are still dangerous for young teenagers.
While high schools football may be fun for the athlete and entertaining for spectators to watch, it is still very dangerous regardless of both the fun and entertainment. Serious injury (and worse, death) can always be a factor while taking part in this activity. If it means less injury as a whole, then maybe these high school athletes should find a different sport to
