Hi Marcus Constructive Criticism
Hi Marcus I strongly agree with this statement. Without constructive criticism it's hard for someone to truly progress. But I do understand the holdup some people have when it comes to constructive criticism. I believe these feelings come from previous past negative experiences when someone maybe had said something hurtful to them. The person saying the hurtful thing maybe used the coverup of "constructive criticism" to hid there motives. In Kristen Weinacker’s essay “Safer? Tastier? More nutritious? The Dubious Merits of Organic Foods”, she makes a claim of fact that organic foods may not be more nutritional than conventionally grown foods. Weinacker does an exceptional job supporting her claim effectively with evidence by using the opinions of several experts, as well as the appeal to our physiological needs. She warrants that by mentioning the use of slick marketing techniques by organic food companies and our belief that organic farmers “bring us back to nature”, we tend to forgive statistical data and start to lean on our common sense. Throughout the essay Weinacker reiterates that most, if not all, of the research data available does not contain the statistical proof necessary to successfully warrant the claim.…

This book breaks disciplinary boundaries between medical, military, and social history in an effort to enrich the field. Although the book deals mainly with professionalization of doctors in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, it shows how military surgeons and doctors fit into British Strategy. This book reveals many things about the military and surgeon works such as a disproportionate amount of Scots as surgeons and most young doctors were younger sons from nonmedical families. Before…

Mark Marchand could be described as risk taking, skilled and head-strong person. The reason this can be said is because he chose his own son to stay in the terrorists’ van and even be tortured and not do anything about it. Also, Mark picked Ben to go communicate for many good reasons. The first reason is that everything leading up to Ben being sent out was staged. Ben’s father purposely saying “Special Forces” so Ben could hear it and wrote down the time 9:30 pretending to cover it. In this part of the book, Mark Marchand is talking and saying he knew what would happen and even said: “Because I knew you better than anyone else…”. This shows that he made the right move and could get the information he needed…

The weaknesses I have, as revealed via this exercise, can be classified as goals to achieve success, as indicators to analyze whether or not growth has been achieved, is needed, or a state of stagnancy exists as a professional practitioner. Although I consider myself to be a critical thinker, having watched the video presentation Laureate Education (2011) Critical Reflective Practice [Video, Online], (accessed: 23/04/14), there’s room for improvement with respect to not only just being a reflective thinker, but also to introduce a greater degree of reflexive thought processes. Jon Spence in his rhetoric suggests that…

There is nothing like crossing the line between being the one getting advice and being the one giving it. As irritating as it can be to hear it, the lessons learned and mistakes made in the past can benefit those who follow in the same footsteps. The most important thing to understand is self worth. From finding meaning in life to accomplishing individual goals, following the advice of those with more experience can help to prevent mistakes from being repeated. Every day is a chance to learn, every mistake is a chance to grow. Since the start of this class my thinking as changed immensely. At the start of this class I was a “challenged thinker”. I had difficulty recognizing fault in my thinking, and I difficulty accepting others criticizing my thinking. As this class progressed, I was able to see where I needed to improve my thinking and I am realize that criticism is not something that is necessarily negative, but is a way to better my ideas further. I know longer see myself as a “challenged thinker”, because my thinking has improved. I am sure that I am now an “advance thinker”. I know that is a big…

In the past, I was horrible at receiving any type of criticism or feedback about anything about myself. I use to feel like it was an overall disapproval of me personally, and I would look at myself and actions in a negative way which brought me down. However, growing up and being exposed to more types of criticism is what has slowly progressed this weakness into a strength. Now I believe that constructive criticism is important for everyday life and provides feedback in order to help an individual understand their mistakes for future reference. This will play a huge role in my profession as a PTA. There will be several times I will receive criticism whether it comes from PTs, colleagues, other disciplines, or even patients. Even if it is not explained in a positive way, it will still be important to take in that information and reflect it on your performance and what you can…
