Prerequisite:
• Visualization & Representation I&II (FP)
• Geometry I&II (FP)
Drawing is not just a representation tool. It is very much an analytical tool. Drawing is the idea generation stage of the project. It is a tool to explore ideas, capturing mental images that result from the creative thinking process. Which means it helps us to analyze a subject, visualize it and also represent it. It is an important method for quickly and economically communicating design ideas. It is an aid for Visualizing objects in three dimensions.
Freehand quick Sketching is equally important. It is an important aid to record the fleeting thoughts associated with idea generation & also the best way to develop/ enhance/ improve/ refine the skill. Free hand Sketches are typically less detailed than design drawings, so the designer is free to rapidly produce and capture ideas in a less restrictive form.
Please Note: As this is the modular subject, it will get completed before mid-term exams.
Course Objectives:
To provide a basic understanding of freehand drawing techniques.
To develop student skills in drawing with accuracy and expression.
To provide attention to each student involves Instruction by demonstration.
Drawings and critique of student work will be completely concentrated on the process and practice of freehand drawing.

Many see a work of art in front of them without ever giving a second thought about the artwork and move on to the next. It is essential for the viewer to fully understand the artwork to truly develop opinions about the work. Usually, making a thumbnail sketch of the work of art can serve a great purpose when it comes to visualizing the work in their eyes. A thumbnail sketch is similar to taking notes for a history class, so when it comes to the part where they have to study for the test, they have something to study off of. Thumbnail sketches help the viewer, who is trying to comprehend the artist’s work, draw conclusions, and develop legitimate opinions unlike statements such as “I like this piece of art.” Also, a thumbnail sketch helps the…

My aim is for my learners to use non traditional methods to challenge preconceptions of drawing. This will be achieved by creating a paper cut-out that demonstrates drawing through new techniques, tools and processes to depict works of art from observation. The activity will create a fun environment, which will subsequently aid learning. This session will help me visually assess learner’s ability to work with equipment and to follow simple instructions. The outcome of this task and the ease in which learners approach the activity will enable me to gain an understanding of the learner’s practical skill capabilities. Equal opportunities are met by this activity and the method is not gender, ethical, moral or socially biased. The use of LSP’s will not be required for this task, though practical assistance will be offered to one learner to assist with her motor skills.…
