Some debate as to what it is, what it represents and what extent it is happening
Defining globalization (Map of the British Empire in 1886 when much of the Globe was ‘pink’ (i.e. The symbolic colour of the British Empire; France was green; The Netherlands orange; Portugal purple etc.). NB Globalization is presented as a new phenomenon but there have been numerous instances in modern history when the world has been interconnected in some way. Note the stereotypical representations of the Empire’s subjects in the decorative adornments of the map. Can you spot Singapore?)
