Hero's Journey Sparknotes
This film brings out various themes like religion, morality, freedom. The theme of religion as depicted in the film relates well with issues affecting religion in the 21st century. We often hear of complaints about sexual molestation within the church, just like the bishop forces himself on the young woman in the movie. The church has also in one way or another been involved with unethical practices especially in matters finance. In Kenya, for instance, politicians have a tendency of making huge donations into religious organizations. This buys them approval in society and as such get away with their stolen wealth. The morality of self-interest perpetuated by government in the film is akin to the present-day scenarios where those in power lies …show more content…
He carried out his schemes against the government in a way that made him easily believable. His ability to operate incognito was partially the reason he succeeded. His choice of words was appropriate and appeared to understand well the system he was fighting. Evey on the other hand, played her part well especially when she kept changing her clothes to fit the occasion.
5. Myth
Hero. V’s power and ability to accomplish mission corresponds to that of the Hero as portrayed in page 36 of our textbook. He rescues Evey from the men who wanted to rape her. He bombed the city and ably eluded the security apparatus for a long time.
The power of numbers. Letter V can be read as number 5. This number seems to carry a lot of symbolism and hence its use is not in vain. We learn that the main character V was once in jail number five. The explosions were also done on the 5th.
6. Nonfiction elements in the story line.
The location of the bombing is in front of the symbol of justice. This is a nonfiction setting since the location does exist. This is important is giving the film a touch of realness since it is a known and verifiable location.

But since the statue shows lady justice carrying the scale on one hand and a sword on the other, it shows that justice many not necessarily come from the system. The system can be manipulated to defeat the very justice it seeks.
9. Significance of the names.
The names are significant. V is a roman letter for number 5. We learn in the film that V the character was once detained in cell number 5. An explosion also happens on 5th.
POLITICCS/GOVERNANCE.
One of the subjects effectively tackled in the movie is that of politics and/or governance. V’s mission is to bring down the unjust government by causing disturbance and destruction. Apart from using his destructive means, he uses broadcast messages to highlight the ills of the system and urges people to ‘free’ themselves from injustices. But V also appears to be driven by the motive of revenge against the system for wrongs done to him. It is very interesting how the issues featured in the film reflect the issues people face in real life. The film highlights corruption in government, unfair justice system, harassment from state agents and the way governments use lies to manipulate the

The foundation of both 1984 and V for Vendetta lies on the act of rebellion. Rebellion is defined as an act of violent or open resistance to an established government of ruler. V and Winston are quite dissimilar when it comes to how exactly they want to rebel, but their end goal is the same: to overthrow their totalitarian governments and make a change to society. Though their intentions and actions may have been impure, both men wanted to better the lives of the citizens and make a drastic change in the way their governments controlled society.…

For V, too many freedoms have been traded for the so-called peace that the Norsefire party has given England. This speech is his wake up call to all of England. He calls upon the citizens of Britain to take responsibility for what they have allowed to happen to their government as well as to stand up for their lost liberties. This is a direct parallel to the liberties American citizens lost after the passing of the Patriot Act and other similar bills that violate the privacy of citizens. From the onset of the film the Norsefire government is shown to be repressive and hell-bent on instilling fear into its citizens. We open with the corrupt secret police attempting to rape Evey because she was out past her curfew. To further drive home the idea that the government has repressed its people much of the film takes place underground in hidden lairs, with scenes composed of tight close up and medium shots. Both the government and the frame in the first half of this film are strangling the characters, forcing them into tight situations and places with little breathing room. Evey is the character that is meant to act as a stand in for the audience member, as she is the most relatable of the main cast. Just like how Evey has been repressed by the Norsefire government all her life, the audience is meant to feel repressed by…

‘V for Vendetta’ directed by James McTeigue is a dystopian political thriller about a shadowy freedom fighter known as ‘V’ who along with his companion Evey, blows up parliament and eliminates the government's control of the country. The film gives a deeper insight of the corruption that can take place in the government. It draws attention to the societal issues stopping us from being able to trust those of higher power. The film also portrays the idea that you can kill a man but you can't kill an idea. These ideas are consistently shown throughout the film by McTeigue’s use of dialogue, costume and symbolism.…

Through my research on the film, “V for Vendetta” I’ve come to a clear understanding that it is a film which deals with issues of homosexuality, criticism of religions, totalitarianism and terrorism. It has received both criticism and praise from socio-political groups. The themes and storyline of this film has shown us that ideas are powerful and it is bulletproof. The story of Guy Fawkes is one of the key elements of this film and through this film, his struggles and movement during the 16th century is one of the main inspirations to the character V. The character V has shown us that if there is anything wrong with the functioning of a society then, we should all stand together and fight for what is right. We should always learn to think…

In the dystopian film V for Vendetta directed by James Mcteigue. The main character V had a strong impression in the film; this impression was made through the use of dialogue, symbolism and music. V is portrayed as a freedom fighter or a terrorist, who wears a Guy Fawkes mask and begins an elaborate, violent plan to murder his former captors and bring down the corrupt government. Guy Fawkes stood for rebellion, revolution by believing in his religion and going to extremes (e.g. blowing up parliament) on November the 5th. V by wearing the mask shows that he is fighting for what Guy Fawkes stood for revolution and rebellion. V’s motives and actions are expressed throughout the entire film through the three main techniques, dialogue, symbolism and music.…
