Hepzibah The House Of Seven Gables Analysis
Hepzibah opened her shop in chapter 2 of The House Of Seven Gables. The shop was first created by the Colonol but he was killed before he could sell anything, and from then on it was untouched causing cobwebs and families of spiders to linger there for years. Finally Hepzibah opens the one-cent shop after cleaning out the old room and making it look brand new. There is always a gingerbread character on the window sill to draw attention, as well as several toys. Inside the shop, however, are several other miscellaneous items such as yarn and pins and needles.
