INFORMATIVE SPEECH
(Assignment)
Public Speaking is the communicating of knowledge that is understandable. Through informative speeches, people are able to give others the benefit of their learning and expertise.

1. Choose a topic that you can research and inform your audience about. Do not inform us about something by going through the physical actions, instead, simply tell and explain the topic to the audience. 2. Developmental Skill: Continue the use of the demonstration/informative speech outline. Applying supporting materials and citing evidence. 3. Time: 5-8 minutes (Four point penalty for every 30 seconds under or over) 4. Grading: 200 possible points (Presentation-120 points, Complete sentence outline-60 points, and Visual Aids-20 points) 5. Presentation: Note cards with a key-word outline may be brought up with you. You may write out your introduction, definitions, and quotes for accuracy. Please do not write out your speech and take it up with you to speak. 6. Outline: A COMPLETE SENTENCE OUTLINE WITH A TECHNICAL PLOT is to be turned in to the

    There are three types of public speaking situations, which are informative speech, persuasive speech, and ceremonial speech. Each of them has features that define it differently from others. First of all, a speech that is designed to educate or inform people is called informative speech. According to the book “The Challenge of Effective Speaking”, an informative speech is “one whose goal is to explain or describe facts, truths, and principles in a way that stimulates interest, facilitates understanding, and increases the likelihood that audiences will remember” (Verderber, 2012). Informative speeches commonly are intellectually stimulating and should be creative in order to be memorable. In order to perform an informative speech we can compare or contrast something, define or describe it, or the common one, describe it. According to the book, there are two main kinds of informative speeches: process and expository speeches. Process speeches the steps of making the speeches or doing it are shown, while expository speeches are “well-researched explanations of complex ideas” (Verderber, 2012). There are some types of expository speeches, which are explaining political, social or ethical issues, explaining events or history events, explaining theory or law, and explaining a creative work. An excellent example for an informative speech could be the lectures given by professors. Most of them are informative, some are describing and explaining. And, of course, some may differ with good quality, while others can be poor performances.…
