Over the past three days, I have completed a three-day food diary. This involved recording all the exercise I did and everything I ate for breakfast, lunch, dinner and multiple snacks throughout the three days. I found this experience quite interesting as it made me more aware of what I eating and how this relates to the guidelines for my age category (14-18). This report will be able to tell me what improvements I need to make to have a balanced diet and also the reflect on my diet currently. I will go through each food group including grain (cereal foods), vegetables, fruit, dairy, lean meats, poultry, eggs, etc and discretionary choices and reflect on the amount of serves I consumed for that for group.…
it is important that all food groups are included in meals throughout the day. you need atleast 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day which is 1/3 of your daily intake. Bread rice pasta and potatoes also know as carbohydrates should make up another 1/3 of you daily intake. The last three groups will make up the final third of your daily intake milk and dairy you should eat in moderate amounts as they are high in fats but contain a good source of calcium. Meat, fish, eggs and…
Eating healthy is not just a short term goal; it’s a life time commitment. Not only will you feel great, but you will look great as well. 8 weeks ago I conducted a 3-day diet analysis and I discovered that my nutritional habits have drastically changed since then. I have made key changes that will have life-long benefits that will lower my risk of all types of diseases and sickness recorded by my SuperTracker. I also analyzed my diet and exercise results and identified a current nutritional need I am experiencing and a health nutrition problem I can foresee experiencing because of traits from my family history. Therefore I developed a realistic nutrition and exercise plan by including four nutritional and physical exercise goals the will assist me in optimizing good health.…

Based on a 24 Hour Recall of my diet, results using NutriCalc Plus report that my food intake lacked a healthy balance of all food groups. My Grain intake reached only 60% of the My Plate daily recommendations. My Vegetable intake was a mere 50% of the recommended servings. Additionally, I consumed 84% of the daily recommendations for the Dairy Group. Nonetheless, I did exceed the recommendations for the Fruit Group and Protein Group with intakes of 155% and 107%, respectively.…
During my three-day food intake I learned about myself. There are many benefits of good nutrition. ”Medical Online” states “besides helping you maintain a healthy weight, good nutrition is essential for the body and all its system to function optimally for a lifetime.” A healthy diet promotes good sleep, gives the body what it needs to stay healthy, and provides energy. According to “Mealtime Memo” Good nutrition means getting the calories that we need for energy and the nutrients we need for proper growth. I’m learning that variety, balance, and moderation are the key to healthy nutrition. As I am learning what I should and should not eat I will like you to invite you to take a look at my food intake. This essay will converse about my intake of protein, carbohydrates, lipids, macronutrients intake ranges, fiber intake ranges, and dietary modifications based on three full days of my food intake. After recording my dietary intake for three days through the Wiley iProfile and reviewing the reports, I have found that this provides a better scope of my eating habits and the nutritional value in each thing I eat.…
My diet compare to the recommendations I received from the Food Guide Pyramid has a lot to be desired, the first day my dairy intake was less than one cup, meat and beans intake was less than 6 ounces, fruit intake did not equal 3 cups, grain intake was less than 7 ounces, vegetable intake was less than 1cup.…
To live a healthy lifestyle, it is important to be informed on what the average person should consume. A popular chart, known as the food pyramid gives a guideline to the intake by category on what portions should be eaten daily. According to the USDA’s 2010 dietary guideline it is vital to consume up to two to three cups of fruit and vegetables, three to four ounces of whole grain, five to six ounces of proteins, three cups of dairy, and five to seven teaspoons of oil (fats) (Food Group Overview). Do not forget about the water! Any easy way to remember what and how much needs to be consumed is shown on a plate chart created by the USDA. One should fill half of their plate with vegetable and fruit, and the other half with proteins and grains with a side of milk. As impossible as it may seem, meeting these requirements…
The Food Pyramid gives us a guideline of the different nutrients and servings we need on a daily basis. It’s a guideline that even I am guilty of not getting all the correct nutrients of everyday. I strive to follow the Food Guide Pyramid everyday but I fall short sometimes. For breakfast I get my servings of fruits equal two about 2 cups. I eat vegetables 2 servings of vegetables per day equal to 2 cups. I stay away from potatoes because of all the starch. I eat lean meat like fish or chicken and try to stay away from red meat. The whole wheat I do eat is whole grain bread or pasta. I get my dairy in take on the milk I drink in the morning. (“Food Pyramids and Plates”, 2013).…
All dishes for all meals are designed, budgeted into our monthly expenses, and supply runs are done on a weekly basis. Everyone will decide on which week they want and if one cannot meet the scheduled duties during that week a notice in advance and an agreement between the person and the member taking over the extra duties will have to be arranged prior to that week so there is no confusion and mess ups when that time comes.…
During the past five weeks, we have been learning about Human Nutrition. Prior to this class, I knew very little about the subject. This is largely due to the fact that I did not care much about what I consumed. If was hungry, I ate. It was that simple. I did not take the time to read labels or to consider the long-term effects of a bad diet. Over the five weeks of this class, I have developed a much better understanding of nutrition and what it means to live a healthy lifestyle.…
Also I was lacking in the required fruits and vegetables intake considerably. After evaluating my diet, I planned to make some changes to improve these intake levels, so that my body could receive the nutrients it needs to stay healthy and alive. A few steps that I took to make these changes in my diet was first documenting what I eat daily and also adding the recommended amounts from each food group into my daily meals. I accomplished this by measuring out my servings, and by adding a more variety and nutrient dense meal plan. Some examples would include a variety of fruits during breakfast to increase my fruit intake, a variety of nutrient-dense vegetables during dinner time to increase my vegetable intake. And to increase my milk intake I chose to add more milk products in my diet to acquire three total cups daily, these types of foods would include cheese, yogurts, and milk. Another few changes I made in my diet were drinking more water during meals to increase my diets water intake and decrease my diets sugar intake. Another change to my diet resulted from increasing my milk intake, vegetable intake, and fruit intake is an increase in calcium and other nutrients and minerals needed to keep my body functioning healthy. For example, accordingly the the pyramid tracker website, has shown a significant increase…
About half of all American adults have one or more chronic diseases due to poor diet. The Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) has translated nutrient recommendations into a Dietary Guideline for Americans. This guideline is designed to help people maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease, and build a healthy eating pattern including recommendations for physical activity. This guideline is reviewed and revised every five years as needed. Overall, the point of the guideline is to show Americans how to live a more healthy and active lifestyle.…
