Health Fair
Extra Credit Essay By attending the health fair I was able to learn many different things I had not known before and also relearned and heard things I have already heard about. First of all, being a person that goes to the gym and watches what they eat, I was able to relate to a lot of these topics. The topics that I learned about at the health fair were nutrition, exercise, water, sunshine, temperance, air, rest, and trust. In the first station, nutrition, I was able to learn the basics of a well balanced diet which should consist of fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts. What is best is known as a balanced vegetarian diet which helps prevent overeating and obesity. I also learned that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should consist of the most calories of any meal. A balanced diet and well-planned exercise program is the best combination to living a healthy lifestyle. Next is water and what I learned was that it is a very important component of our body. About 70% of our total weight is water. Water is used for cleansing, cooling, and to maintain proper chemical balance. We should drink 8 cups a day and if we don’t drink enough kidneys have to work much harder and could be damaged. Sunshine also plays an important role with our body as well. It provides the skin with Vitamin D. Temperance is basically being in control of what we put into our body, such as drinking and eating moderately. We need to keep everything in balance or else things can get out of hand. The air we breathe should be clean, and there are some breathing techniques, sitting and standing correctly to get in adequate amounts of oxygen are some. Rest is needed because if we constantly keep pushing our bodies to the limit, our bodies will
