Health Care In Nicaragua

How is it possible that Nicaragua, a diverse country, rich in flora and fauna, with an exotic and exquisite culture, with friendly people, humble, and lovers of life; Cannot have a stable and adequate health system for its population. The battle over healthcare is a global concern that is being handled differently in each country. However, health care is more accessible in Nicaragua than in the United States but the quality of care is much worse than in the U.S. hospitals. Writing this essay reminded me of the healthcare situation I used to experience years ago and to think about the situation in which many people live today, and the truth is that it has not changed that much, everything keeps looking the same. Wealthy citizens paying for their own care attend private hospitals located in metropolitan areas of Nicaragua. Comparable to United States hospitals, these are well equipped and sufficiently staffed. However, private health care is unattainable for much of the Nicaraguan population, since medical consultations are expensive: laboratory tests and x-rays are two to three dollars each, and prenatal checkups cost one hundred dollars. Also, I would like join organizations like MINSA (Ministry of Health) and work closely with them to spread awareness of health preventions. Also, I would like to implement training to improve the treatment that doctors have towards patients since this is a commons issue that happen in the hospitals between patients and doctors. People demand not be treated in the right way, and I witnessed these conditions firsthand. One day, I went to visit my aunt to the hospital, whom was fight the cancer battle and I observed a bad action that the nurse had toward my aunt when she asked her for a pain pill, the nursed turned around and walked out of the room saying “we are not allow to give you” without any explanation. Doctor shouldn’t make their personal problems part of their professional job. However, implementing these new changes will not be easy. One of the major obstacle I will face, will be trying to implement new rules regarding the doctors’ treatment toward the patients, since they won’t give up easily the way they have been doing their work, just because I foreign say so. But, one way to overcome this obstacle will be with the help of the hospitals’ supervisor, since they are the ones who have control over them. Supervisor should check more the
