Unit 2: Health and Social Care Values

Task 2B

Confidentiality

Confidentiality Is vital as it protects a individual from personal information being shared. Trust is really important between the service user and the service provider. It depends on whether the user is confident that the personal information will be kept confidential.

An example of confidentiality in a health and social care setting is adhering to the data protection act which means that any data that is related to the service user should be kept private and should not be viewed by people other than the service providers.

Dignity and Respect for the Individual

Dignity and Respect for the Individual is important because it supports, promotes, and does not undermine a person's self respect regardless of any difference. Without this service users would feel neglected.

An example of Dignity and Respect for the Individual would be that if the individual was a vegetarian then the service provider should sort it out and make it possible for the person so that they would feel loved. The provider should not complain about it as it would make the user feel uncomfortable.

Safeguarding and Duty of Care

Safeguarding and Duty of Care is significant as it ensures the physical and emotional safety of individuals. If individuals are protected from harm they are more likely to grow up into confident members of society. Individuals with a disability are three times more likely to experience abuse and neglect and its up to service providers to recognise the signs and symptoms to protect all people.

An example of Safeguarding and Duty of Care would be making sure that the place is safe by placing security locks which would prevent service users from harm.

Person-centred Approach to Care Delivery

Person-centred Approach to Care Delivery is important because it makes the individual feel respected as their preferences are considered.
