POLICY TITLE :Health and SafetyLegislation underpinning the policy: Health and safety Act 1974 | Summarise the main points of this policy:This policy is written and reinforced by the head teacher and the governing body and covers aspect of the following: * First aid * Crisis management * Fire policy and bomb incidents * Accident reporting and recording * Alcohol and drug abuse * Risk Assessments * Electrical equipment PAT testing * Manuel Handling | What are your responsibilities within this Policy: recently I took part in fire evacuation drill when we had to evacuate children from the classroom outside into the playground. The teacher counted the children, ensuring them to be calm and informing the children that if the school is safe we will be able to go back inside. I do follow the policy and procedures in case of a fire. Although I am not currently first aid trained I know where to record incidents and what to do when first aider is needed. Also keeping the classroom and cloakrooms clean, tidy and the ensuring the fire escapes are clear the helps prevent accidents in accordance to the policy. Before lunch I am sending children to wash their hands, also helping them to tie their shoe laces can prevent accidents. Keeping the coats off the floor prevent accidents. I also ensure I lift correctly when moving equipment around the school for example bending the knees to lift objects from the ground.
