Healing Ministry
Selectivity of the both healing ministries The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines compassion as, “sympathetic consciousness of other’s distress together with a desire to alleviate it”. In Jesus’s healing ministry He was a compassionate healer, healing all those who came before Him in faith. Jesus knew what sin had brought upon His people; thus, He was always willing to heal them. He understood their broken needs and sought to minister unto their needs. There are many accounts in the bible that showed that Jesus healed the sick, casted out demons and raised people from the dead. However, Jesus did not reject anyone who came before Him in need of healing or restoration. Mathew 9:35 states, “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people”.
He portrayed no biasness or discrimination. His healing was not based on selectivity but rather he was more concerned on fulfilling part of His mission on earth. Many people claim that the story in Mark chapter 7 verses 27-30, Jesus discriminated against the Greek woman who pleaded on behalf of her demon possessed daughter. Others claimed that He initially refused to help her because it was a test of her faith. However, in comparison there are much more accounts of Jesus healing the sick with illnesses such as blindness, speech impairment, leprosy, hemorrhage, fever, non- functional limbs etc. take for example
