Weekly Vocabulary Exercise: Basic Health Care Language

Complete the worksheet according to the following guidelines:

In the space provided, write each term’s definition as used in health care. You must define the term in your own words; do not simply copy the definition from a textbook.
In the space provided after each term’s definition, provide an explanation that illustrates the importance of the skill, concept, procedure, organization, or tool to which the term refers. In your explanation, you may wish to consider the following:

How has it influenced health care? Medical terminology has influence how professionals communicate effectively and timely with their patients, insurance carriers.

Why is it important to understand the appropriate application of the term or concept? It is extremely important to understand the appropriate application and concept because it could make a huge difference of what type of treatment and prevention you’re providing the patient. The cost of patients out of pocket expense. And the type of facility the patient would need to be admitted for certain procedures to be executed.

    I believed, knowing the terms’ definitions, word by word was the best way. After reading this article, I realized that may not be the case. These classroom classes are my building blocks for my clinical’s, as well as my nursing career.
