Have you ever thought about having a later school starting time
Have you ever thought about having a later school starting time, and how it could affect us for the better or the worse? Well in this essay I will explain to you how having schools to start later could help us, for example students will get more sleep, secondly they won't be tired during school and lastly they will be more active during class which would help improve their academic performance. Many students are not getting enough sleep and always being late for school, this is due to having an early school time. If school started later for the students they will get more sleeping time, this could help there learning a lot for many reasons such as. Firstly students aren't having enough sleeping time, did you know that students aged 10-15 are supposed to have 9.5 hours of sleep, but because of these early school starting times they only get 7 hours of sleep, if they get more sleep they're brain will rest more and help them during school. Secondly due to this lack of sleeping time, students won't be focused during class and they will keep dozing off to sleep. This will result in them not studying during class and it will impact them hugely during a unit test. Lastly they won't be able to learn properly, because all they will be thinking of will be sleep. Have you ever woken up and are super tired? And you noticed that there are only 30 minutes left before school starts, well that's the daily life of a teenager. If school started later it could prevent this. Firstly if school started later it could cure this tiredness. Some of the benefits of students not being tired are that, students will listen to their teachers more often, this is scientifically proven by the C.G.O.E (Canadian Government of Education) that students who are less tired are more likely to work more and better during class. Second of all did you know that 70% of students who are tired are more likely to fall asleep during class then those who aren't tired? If students slept during class it could

In the article “Our kids need more sleep” Written by Valerie Erde, she makes many good points about why school should be set back to a later time. First is how it increases academic alertness and vigilance. Second, is how a later start time decreases depression in teens and decreases tardiness and decreases truancy. Last, is how this later start time is actually helping the students get better grades. I one hundred percent agree with this and believe these policies should definitely be implemented.…

Starting school later in the morning does NOT give us more time to sleep. We will be forced to stay up later to study for the big test, to finish the project, and to do the thirty math problems we haven’t made a dent in yet because we haven’t had TIME. We will be waking up an hour earlier to finish homework we were too tired to get done the night before and we will end up getting less…
