Those who are happiest, never have everything; rather, they are thankful for everything they do have. In an ideal world, everything would be perfect for each of us. There would be no restrictions, no hardships, and no sadness. Unfortunately, such a world is unattainable, which is why we have to make do with the good we do have; something we all possess, no matter how bad things may seem. Dwelling on all the things you do not have will never leave you satisfied, and will never let you be truly happy. Happiness is acceptance, perspective, and embracing all you have. For the purpose of my argument, “acceptance” means being okay with whatever state your life is in, knowing that nothing will ever be 100% perfect. Imperfection is a natural human attribute: accept it. Along with that comes “perspective”, the outlook you have on life. The matter is as simple as being an optimist versus being a pessimist. It is important not to compare your life to someone who “has it better”, because those unnecessary comparisons will not bring you happiness. It also matters whether your focus is on the negatives or the positives, and what you let your mind dwell on. A negative mind will never give you a positive life. People seem to struggle most with finding and maintaining happiness in their lives, mostly because they do not understand what happiness is. They assume happiness is a concrete destination. Little do they realize that you can find happiness in what you already have, no matter the situation. Some think that the only way to be happy is to remove all things negative out of their life, but one should not let their happiness be controlled by something they themselves cannot control. When things do not go exactly as expected, that does not mean everything has gone wrong, or that the world has turned against you.
