While European Rome and Asian Han Dynasty China were unique civilizations in their own ways, they did happen to share a lot of qualities between each other. A couple of the similarities were their monarchy-run governments - both placed a single person (an emperor) in charge of the respective empire, both of them had were originally made up of many different kingdoms in their countries with one ending up controlling the rest, they both used lots of agriculture in their economies, and both Rome and Han China gradually deteriorated after long rules.…
Imperial Rome and Han China had some similarities and differences in their foundation. In the eight century B.C.E., Rome began as a small city-state on the western side of Italy. Originally they were a monarchy but in 509 B.C.E. they knocked off the monarchy and made themselves republic. In their republic system, the wealthy class, known as patricians, dominated. The lower class was called plebeians. The Romans had laws that protected the lower class form abuse. The Romans took great pride in their system, believing it gave them more freedom. With this political system, the Romans launched their empire, a process that took more than 500 years. The Chinese were not building a new empire yet they were restoring the old. The Chinese empire started as early as 2200 B.C.E. By 5oo B.C.E. the Chinese state was in shambles which they considered as the warring states, which were seven kingdoms within the Chinese government fighting against each other. China finally reunified in 221 B.C.E. Han China and Imperial Rome are similar because they both flourished at about the same time (200 B.C.E. – 200 C.E.), conquered about the same amount of land (about 1.5 million square miles), and had about the same population (50 to 60 million). The reason for the similarities and differences in the foundation in both of the empires was because Rome was a new empire while the Han dynasty was just restoring the old but they were still the dame due to their similarity in the time era both empires flourished, they occupied a similar area, and they contained a similar population.…
The Roman and Han Empires were the most powerful empires among the Classical Empires. Between the fifth century B.C.E. and the fifth century C.E., the Roman empire of the Mediterranean and the Han Empire of China were both influential powers of the Classical Asian and Mediterranean worlds. The Han Dynasty and Roman Empire were similar in their falls because they both fell to nomadic invaders, and because they both fell because of a decline in economic trade. The Han and the Roman Empires were different in their falls because the Han suffered from serious revolts whereas the Romans did not; also the effects of their falls were different because China was able to make a fairly quick comeback whereas Rome was never able to do so.…
Both empires had problems with social in takes. The Han Dynasty had problems with taxations, peasants grew angry over the raise of taxes and revolved against china so they used the military to stop them but soon needed more soldiers so, the Han government forced many farmers and others to fight as well, generating a large group of angry citizens. The Romans struggled with religion more than taxes as Christianity spread through Rome officials…

These two giant empires were able to reach great heights, but they differed in origin. The Han Dynasty was created when Liu Bang pulled the state back together after the near collapse of the Qin dynasty. (Dunn and Mitchell 202) Rome had a much more humble beginning. “When Rome emerged as a republican city-state in late sixth century B.C.E., the peoples of Italy were mostly farmers.”(Dunn and Mitchell 193) These contrasting origins forced these empires to use different methods to maintain their rule.…
While the empires lasted during the same time, they were located on completely different land areas. Rome had the Mediterranean, was hilly, with lots of rivers. Some similarities of imperial administration in Imperial Rome and Han China include the general idea of equality, living under one ruler who gives the people some control, and the roles of families. Both empires believed in generalization of the people. Yes, they had one ruler, but everyone else underneath the ruler was made equal. Both Imperial Rome and Han China are controlled under one central leader.…
The Han Chinese were more diplomatic and wanted to avoid conflict as much as possible. There mindset was to win battles without fighting. Instead of using military and legions to defend their borders. They used walls and diplomacy to get other enemies away from attacking their borders. The romans though were a very attack mentality kind of military. They were very organized and had a lot of legions. They would use the citizens to sign up for the military. This was also a way to keep political control by making them sign up for the military. They used the legions and the military to defend their borders. A similarity though is that they both used roads and waterways for military access and trade routes. They could move the military easier from place to place. They could collect taxes and control trade. And also they could govern more effectively with use of messengers due to the…

The Han Dynasty and Roman Empire both expanded their boundaries to the point where many thought they would be impossible to defeat. Regardless of that power, both empires had very devastating falls. Though they were both very different societies, China having a centralized bureaucracy, and Rome having a rule based on laws and private authorities, like many empires, many aspects of their defeat are similar. Some of the ideas contributing to this fall was the stress on military, the high taxes placed on citizens, and the religions of each empire.…
