Hamlet's Tragic Hero

There is no doubt in my mind that Hamlet is a tragic hero. There are many examples that you can find that helps him fall under the title “hero.” One is that he starts out as a typical hero trying to give the noblest deed, to avenge his father’s death, and in the end dies as any noble hero does, and dies for what he loves. But like every other hero he possess a tragic flaw that aids him into his poor decisions. His tragic flaws are how he is over passionate about the death of his father and the limits he’ll go to to avenge his father’s death. Another example is how he has such a vast vocabulary and allows these words and meanings to destroy him as he over thinks about them too much. He becomes very aware of how he should kill him and make sure that he is killing him for all the right reasons. But then he becomes to understand the value of life and becomes very indecisive which delays him numerous times with the murder. It is always so discouraging and frustrating to see him finally decide on a decision, and then to see him back away from it and go on with some other plan. One example of this is how he has tried to kill Claudius a numerous amount of times but has procrastinated on his decision. I believe he is procrastinating because he does not want to harm his mother in any way, physically or emotionally because of the relationship that he shares with her. One example that he tries to kill his uncle is whenever he is praying. Hamlet states, “And am I then revenged/ To take him in the purging of his soul, When he is fit and seasoned for his passage?/ No. /...As hell/ whereto it goes. My mother stays./ This physic but prolongs thy sickly days.” (3.3.89-100) Hamlet has the opportunity to plunge the dagger through his head but he feels that in that moment it is wrong because Claudius is asking for forgiveness. This is a prime example here how Hamlet finds a reason to procrastinate on killing Claudius. It is not until act four that Hamlet finally decides to get it together and finally
