Saw and Justin
PROLOGUE

Year 1850, London,

It was a cold winter night, and the skies were dark like coffee. Jack the ripper had maybe killed someone again. You could never now. The roads weren’t safe, now at days. Yesterday the police found a girl, splatted up. Her body was opened, and you could see her entrails.

Today it was Halloween. All people were dressed like different creatures. Some of them were dressed like, ghost, aliens, and monsters. I was dressed like a ghost. “ Come on, Justin, hurry up”. “I am coming, James. I just need to take my costume on”.

Justin is my best friend. He has brown hair, and blue eyes. He is very lazy, also at school. He always gets bad rapports from the school. “What is that?” “I am dressed like a monster, from a movie, can´t you see it”. “Ya right, come let´s go”.

It was very cold out side Justin´s house. We took the bus, to the other side of the city. Justin and I live out side the city, so every Halloween we have to take the bus to the city. When the bus stopped, we went to the nearest house. I saw many pumpkins out side the houses. There were also small lights, inside the pumpkins. “ Ring, Ring”. An old man opened the door. “ Hello kids, what can I do for you?” “Trick Or Treat?” “ Oh sorry, I forgot it was Halloween today. I just go inside to get some candy. “Justin isn’t it funny. The man forgot that it was Halloween today… I asked you something. Justin! When I looked behind me, were he stood just one minute ago, he wasn’t there!

I walked around five minutes, but I couldn’t find him. Then I saw two figures, in a spawning. I couldn’t see their faces, but I had a strange feeling that it was Justin. I went into the spawning, very slowly. But when I saw what there were happening, I gave a scream.

A man was opening, Justin’s stomach! Then I saw the man`s face, but actually he wasn’t a man, he was a ghost. “ James, help me! I tried to stop the ghost, but he just pushed me away, and I fainted.

Modern Halloween has become less literal about ghosts and ghouls and more about costumes and candy. The holiday is overflowing with action on its reserved night. Kids are so anxious to drag their parents out the door, show off their creative costumes, and ring their first doorbell for a fun-filled night of trick-or-treating as soon as the dismissal bell for school rings. High school students wait until the whole group of friends is together before they head out into the misty darkness with only the flickering street light to guide them. Meanwhile, adults are sipping on their witches brew at a local party or nightclub.…

The cuts on Little Red’s cheeks stung and dripped small drops of blood down her face. Laughing we went to the house next door to them as we rang the doorbell when the door was opened, we all yelled “Trick-or-treat!” holding the candy bowl out in front of her the woman pulled a small gift bag and gave it to Sammy. We were all happily chatting as we walked next door, turning to Nathaniel I said, “You should totally put your mask on to scare them,” He agreed and put his hand in his pillowcase and tried to find his mask. His eyes went wide as he realized that he had lost it. When we rang the doorbell, Mrs. Tracy opened the door, she opened it very slowly, there was smoke leaking out the door and she was wearing a costume and held a bowl of candy. After we had gotten candy from her we began the walk to my house. We stopped at houses along they way, not that many, though when we reached the three-way stop my dad stopped us and said we should go to one house before hand. We all went to that house and got even more candy. Then, we walked over to my house. We rang the doorbell and my dad threw open the door and grinned and held out the bowl of candy. “Trick or treat!” we all chorused and held out our bags for candy. My dad laughed and dumped the entire bowl of candy into our…

I couldn’t sleep at all last night. The nightmare of the past events haunted me all throughout the night. The visage of the body being laid out and defiled in the middle of the cold, barren road was still within my head like looking at myself in the mirror. I was near the brink of collapse, unable to bear what had just happened. I stayed in bed till about midday when I woke up from my slumber, my face dry from tears.…

In its modernity, Halloween is the only day out of the entire year where a person is encouraged to be someone wildly different from themselves, with (almost) no negative repercussions. Thus, people tend to outdo themselves when it comes to crafting their "persona" for the night, taking much of their inspiration from movies, video games, the news, and even Internet memes to build the greatest costumes.…

    Jack the Ripper

The Whitechapel Murders and those of Jack the Ripper are not generally one and the same. Over a period of three years towards the end of the nineteenth century a number of prostitutes were murdered under different circumstances – the murder of prostitutes was not an especially unique occurrence during those times but several of the murders drew particular attention on account of the savagery with which the victim's bodies were mutilated. Within the Whitechapel Murders was a cluster of murders that demonstrated sufficient similarities as to suggest that they were committed by the same person. One of the first instances of serial murder was thus identified and sensationalised in the media as the work of ‘Jack the Ripper', nicknamed on the strength of a letter, probably a hoax, sent to the Central News Agency and claiming responsibility for the killings. Jack the Ripper was a man, and the killer surely was a man, who did not have the intention to merely kill his victims; he needed to mutilate them. Such was the savagery of his attacks and the enthusiasm of the press, that he successfully terrorised the environs of Whitechapel in East London for several years. In spite of an extensive investigation of the killings, Jack the Ripper was never apprehended nor convincingly identified.…
