COURTNEY Slide 2: Poem, Had You Not
Had you not hinted
It would be appropriate
For me to kiss you
Beneath the silver moon,
I may have avoided you
And Prufrocked myself through life—
Singing nothing but an etherized song.

Had you not suggested
Spring was a good season
For us to make love,
I might have buried myself
In a library trying to find why
Henry James’ delicate wound
Kept him on the sidelines,
While the match played out
Before his fearful eyes.

Had you not intimated
I had but precious time—
And so little of that—
Until you would leave
And extinguish the sun,
I could have held
Lady Macbeth by the waist
And waltzed her off
To the province of hell.

Had you not proposed
This compact between us,
By which we choose our words
To write the only story
Worth telling at all,
I would have closed my Bible
And nailed myself to the wall.

COURTNEY Slide 4:
1st Stanza- Sounds like a love story, couple’s first kiss, new love starting, someone finally making the first move and if not, would have stayed affray.

2nd Stanza- Relationship blossoms into making love, again hinted by the same person, showing respect into waiting until she was ready. Edelman is known for writing about love. According to Cheri Davis Langdell, (fellow poetry author) "Bart Edelman's poetry is true art. These beautiful, knowing poems are about loneliness, love and isolation, poems which have at their center a stillness as well as a strong presence."

3rd Stanza-In the third stanza he is saying she told him he had little time to live with her in his life. He says “and extinguish the sun” meaning that once she is gone the color and brightness of his days will also disappear. I am not sure what he means by “Icould have held Lady Mcbeth by the waist, and waltzed her off to the province of hell.’ But if I had to make a guess this means if he could have her for longer than she is saying he can, he would have spent the most time possible with her. I think maybe they are doing something wrong because of the line that says he would dance with her to the province of hell.

4th Stanza- This stanza talks about a compact the two made together; I think this is talking about marriage or just a pact made to be together. “by which we choose our words to write” I think may possibly be talking about vows, I think he continues to say that he was a part of the church. Or it is also possible that they were having an affair.

We chose the song “You’re beautiful” by James Blunt. We think this poem correlates with this song because the man in the poem says he would have continued his life, if they hadn’t met, with anguish, and in this song James is saying how upset he is about living his life without the woman he sees on the crowded street. Also in the song he’s talking about time and how he didn’t have much with the woman but wished there was more.

Lots of people. Lots of people crowding around us a man shoves a opening for us as we walk through. I block out all the yelling. All I can think about is the fact that I’m going to see Sangwoo soon. We walk into the court and sit down at our places and I look around looking for him. The grin. His eyes meet mine and he gives me the smile. The smile of the sangwoo that I loved. That I could’ve had a life with. All I want is that Sangwoo. But now I know. I know that there is more to the Sangwoo that I care…

Modern weapon systems have traditionally contained many more specifications and greater detailed Statements of Work [SOW] than those of the past. Contrast the Army Signal Corps SOW for the Wright Brothers' heavier-than-air flying machine in 1908 to the Air Force SOW for the Advanced Tactical Fighter in 1986. Requirements in the 1908 SOW (e.g., be easily taken apart for transport in Army wagons and be capable of being reassembled for operation in an hour, carry 350 pounds for 125 miles, and maintain 40 miles per hours in still air) and other contract conditions were specified on one page. The requirements section in the 1986 SOW for the Air Force Advanced Tactical Fighter was 85 pages long with 300 paragraphs of requirements.…

The Sea Spirit by Lucy Maude Montgomery is a poem about the sea. The poem portrayed the different characteristics of the sea; when the mood of the sea changes. The view and opinion of the sea is influenced by the change of moods within the sea. During the poem; you are taken on a journey throughout the span of the day below the surface of the water. At first the sea is beautiful and calm but then it becomes dark and terrible. When the sea calms and the night arrives, the mood of the poem settles. Through the days’ events the reader gets an insight on the cycle of the ocean.…
