WORKOUT PLUS
Workout plus is a health club that offers a full range of services to its clients. Recently, two others fitness club have opened up in a town, threatening workout’s solvency. While Workout is tops among serious fitness buffs, it has not attracted a wide spectrum of members, Shannon Hiller, owner and manager, has decided it’s time to face lift. She started the process by sponsoring a week long “ideathon” among all club members. Nonmembers who frequented an adjacent grocery store were also canvassed for suggestions. Their comments are provided below, along with the current facility layout. Free Weights | Circuit Training | Aerobics Room | Cardio Machines |
Current layout:

Member’s comments: * The cardio Machines fill up too fast on rainy days, then everything gets backed up. * I don’t feel like strutting through the gym from one end to another just to finish my workout. * How about quick 30 minutes workout routine for busy folks? * I like working out with my friends, but aerobics is not for me. What other group activities are group for cardio? * Separate the people who want to gab from the people who want to pump. * It’s so confusing with all those machines and weights. You need novice section that’s not so intimidating. * It’s hard to work yourself in when you come across the gym. I would like to see the machines I will be using to gauge my time. * Circuit training is for wimps. The next thing you know you ill be stopping and starting the music to tell us when to change machines. * We all seem to arrive at the popular machines at once, Can you space us out? * I would like for my kids to get some exercise too while I am working out. But I don’t want them to wandering all over the place to fine me. * This place is too crowded and disorganized, not fun anymore. * You have classes only at busy times, during the day gym is empty but

The summer, a time of warm weather, long weekends, friends and holidays. It is also the time where many of us put down the junk food, get off the couch and come out of winter hibernation to enjoy the outdoors. It’s often not long after playing your first game of beach volleyball or running to catch the bus when you realise that your heart is racing, sweat is pouring down your face and you are breathing heavily. As you look up and watch everyone still running around you or as your stepping onto the bus only one thought is running through your mind “WOW I am out of shape!”. Now I am not here today to try and convince you to get into better shape. Starting a fitness routine is a commitment that an individual needs to decide on for themselves when the time is right for them. It is at this time when many people have the same debate, do you shell out the money for a gym membership? or do you invest in a home gym? My goal today is to persuade you so when or if you do decide to start a fitness routine you will choose to or at least consider the benefits of purchasing a gym membership over investing in a home gym. I believe this can be done by examining what many people think are the benefits of investing in a home gym. Which are saving money, convenience, and not having to deal with other members. After looking at these three points it will become clear that not all of them are completely true and joining a gym can satisfy these needs just as well if not better.…

Choosing the right exercise program is the easiest part. If you like the outdoors then walking may be the right choice. “A brisk Walk is nearly the perfect exercise” (“Health Prescription” 2001). Dr. Mason explains in Harvard’s Women’s magazine, stretching before any exercise is important (“Health Prescription” 2001). She says, walking can be done in many different ways and the most effective way is a long thirty-minute walk (“health Prescription). If walking is not intense enough then cardio is a good choice. “When it comes to fitness fads that have swept across America over the past 50 years, cardio is the king” (Newsome 2012). A good form of cardio is running. “ Do you love the feel of running in the great outdoors yet worry about the bad press that running sometimes gets. There are precautions you can take” (Carerra 2012). “Running allows you to be connected with your thoughts and the increased heart rate and endorphin response of recruiting your entire body into the movement is uplifting, invigorating, addictive”( Carerra 2012).…
