Grendel Vs Beowulf
The Beowulf Epic vs. Beowulf and Grendel the movie:
The movie Beowulf and Grendel and the Beowulf book had many similarities and differences such as the added characters to the movie that were not included in the book. The characters that were used in the movie were presented in different aspects, with different motives, appearances, and names. Instead of the "King, Ruler, God" that was known as Beowulf in the book, was more of a regular man in the movie. Not much of a threat or so called god that we thought he was. He was considered a heroic figure in the book because of his protection to the Danes from the beast and in the film he is portrayed as more of a liar than a hero. Hrothgar was accused of cheating on Welthow with Grendel's mother and giving birth to Grendel.
Throughout the film, it isn't hard to notice that Beowulf is more noble and slightly a more gentlemen. It shows him fighting to protect the people of the kingdom; he doesn't just do this for the fame, glory, or rewards. That is what we did know of Beowulf in the book though. His fighting was just to be self-centered and selfishly misusing his abilities for his own good, not for the good of others. Both Beowulf vs. Beowulf have completely different personalities in the film and book, and do each task in a different way. All that was just discussed of Beowulf was all regard to the concept of honor, good and evil. Added characters such as Grendel having a kid, and a witch did go along with the film well. Grendel’s son did not play much of a role in the film until after he was killed. As for the witch, she was much of a distraction to Beowulf.
