Green technology is technology that is environmentally friendly. There are many types of green technology. There is green energy, green transportation, and green construction. It is the future of our society. To have a healthier human population, a healthier Earth is needed. The amount of damage done to the Earth has been suspected to have caused global warming. Pollution must be decreased to decrease global warming, and by the increased use of green technology it could increase the health of the Earth. Green energy is renewable unlike other energy sources such as fossil fuels. Even though green technology seems costly at first, the use of it should be increased because it is renewable, less costly, more efficient, and reduces pollution.
A part of green technology is green energy. Energy is very important to life. People use energy to keep the house warm, the lights on, and the food cold. There are many different types of green energy. One type of energy is solar. “Solar panel technologies promising enhanced power output The concept of non-conventional sources of energy is becoming a major subject of research as our planet is running out of its resources of non-renewable energy such as coal, petroleum, etc” (Athena Information Solutions Pvt. Ltd (2011)). Solar panels are a great way to harvest the suns energy to provide you with electricity. Solar panels are made up of a series of photovoltaic cells connected together. When the sun heats up these cells it stores the charged energy into batteries. This is what helps people to power their homes.
The next energy source is wind. People can create wind energy by using wind turbines. Converting wind energy into electricity is clean, renewable and sustainable, therefore, the wind supply will never run out. “One 1.8MW wind turbine produces enough electricity for 1,000 households every year” (Sample (2008)).
