Green Eye Gene Compare And Contrast
Darker eye color genes are more dominant than lighter eye color genes. Each parent can only give one gene from each trait. The father inherited a brown eye gene and a blue eye gene. However, the father passed down the brown eye gene to its offspring. The mother inherited a green eye gene and a blue eye gene. Based on evidence, one can come to the conclusion that the mother will pass a green eye gene to the offspring. As a result, the offspring will have a brown a gene and a green eye gene. According to genetics.thetech.org the green eye trait is dominant over the blue eye trait and the brown eye trait is dominant over both. This table shows every possible combination between a green eye gene, blue eye gene, and a brown eye gene. It shows that every time a brown eye gene is passed down with any other eye gene, the offspring will have brown eyes. When a green eye gene is passed down with a blue eye gene, the offspring will always have green eyes.
