Greek Mythology Research Paper
According to Webster’s Dictionary, myth is “a usually traditional story of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon.” Myths have a lot of influence on who we are as a person and how we make sense of the world. Myths originate from Ancient Greeks that used mythology as a means of describing their beliefs in religious heroes and gods. There are two sides to every story and since myths are perceived to be stories, they also have two sides a positive side and negative side. Over the course of my paper I will discuss both the positive and negatives sides of how myths teach us life lessons, how they give us hope, and how they can turn something negative

For young kids a good myth would be the Tooth Fairy. Losing a tooth can really hurt, but knowing once you lose that tooth and put in under your pillow that the tooth fairy will come and replace it with money. Kids would feel better about the situation and therefore, turning a negative into a positive one. A good example for adults would be the power of money. Money has the power to influence our lives. We think that we need money to make us happy, but in reality there are very important things money cannot buy like: love and happiness. We get love and happiness from our family and friends. People who think that money brings happiness will never be able to fill that void because they will never be content with what they have, they will always want more. People who do not have a lot of money can be jealous of the people who do, but if you look at the bigger picture they look elsewhere for fulfillment in their lives. They accept who they are as a person and find happiness that does not come from materialistic things. People may look at not having a lot of money as a bad thing, but these people seem to be the
