Great Expectations Essay About Money And Happiness
Money can’t buy happiness. Money is society seems to be the end all be all of life's problems, and hardships. Teens today think if you have a lot of money that you get your dream girl, dream house, dream car, and you live out your life with no worries in your beach house. These ideas are false though, Great Expectations shows us differently from that typical ideal of how simple and easy money can make life.

Pip's life was not made easier or simpler by gaining wealth or becoming a gentleman. Pip grew up through most of his life being an apprentice to his sister's husband Joe, even though he knew he wanted to be more he was content with the job. Pip was then told he has been given Great Expectations, and takes it immediately. Now that Pip has money, and is a gentleman he believes that he can now marry his dream girl Estella. To Pips dismay though Estella married Dremel. To add to all of Pips misfortunes, he finds out the man he rescued in the swamp was his benefactor making the money dirty money. Finding this out Pip feels guilty for having the money and used it because it was dirty money. …show more content…
Havisham save her or help her out of her misery. MS. Havisham had a large sum of money scammed away from her, because she bought out her brother from the brewery, so she could marry Compeyson, but on the wedding day he stood her up and split the money with her brother. Ms. Havisham's money only got her scammed, and heart broken. Ms. Havisham was very heartbroken but still had a large sum of money, and a very large and nice house. Even though she had all that money, it was never able to mend her broken heart. SHe sat heartbroken in her home, while her family members waiter for her to die like “vultures, waiting to feast on my body” Ms. Havisham.
