Greasers In The Outsiders
The greasers have it hard! But so do the socs. In the novel the Outsiders the greasers seem to have all the troubles but the soc do to many of the things that the greasers deal with the socs deal with too. Some things that they both deal with is stereotyping, money, and smoking habits.

One common struggle that both of them face is the money. For example, “It's not just money, part of it is but not all.”. This shows that money is a problem for both of them. It also shows that not all of their differences come from money.
Another common struggle that they both face is stereotyping. “You're more emotional, we’re more sophisticated.”. This shows that the socs stereotype the greasers to be emotional which may not be true. Also, it shows that the

There are many dividing factors in everyday life. From social classes, to political stances. I noticed the difference in their social situations. The greasers feel they have it worse than the socs, coming from broken homes with limited loved ones, aside from each other. The socs, on the other hand, seem to have been born into a silver spoon lifestyls, with luxuries that the greasers never imagined possible for themselves. While the socs may have better living situations, it is apparent to me that everyone gets dealt a bad hand in life at one point or another. The driving force of all conflict between these two parties has always been their differences, when in reality, things are "rough all…

"Greasers are like hoods; we steal things and drive old souped up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while." (Hinton 6) Bob Sheldon, a Soc in the novel The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, was stabbed and killed by greaser, Johnny Cade. The greasers are considered the menace to society, because of the way they look and the actions they make. But what if I told you the only reason why 16-year old Johnny Cade stabbed Bob was because Bob and the others Socs were drowning Ponyboy... Socs are the real menaces to society because they assault and torment, they are selfish and disguise their personality with their appearance.…

The author Robert Fanney once said, “I cannot change what will happen. I can only change how I act in the face of it.” In The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton there are two groups Soc’s and Greasers. Greasers were the poor ones, always getting into trouble. The Soc’s were the rich and had nice cars/outfits. Soc’s and Greasers never got along and always fought. During the story the greasers start to realize things they have never realized before like how everything is rough all over. Johnny and Dally show examples of heroism throughout the story.…

In the novel The Outsiders, two members of the gang the “Greasers,” Johnny and Ponyboy, become muddled in a murder. There are two central gangs in the story, the Greasers and the Socs, who are antagonistic throughout the novel. Two characters in the novel, both from conflicting worlds, share an interest for admiring sunsets. Metaphorically, sunsets in The Outsiders provide comprehension about rival gangs, exhibiting that we are more akin to our rivals than we speculated, we are all a component of the equivalent world, and that everyone confronts hardships in life.…

Loyalty is also a big topic in The Outsiders. The Greasers are loyal to their own; they are willing to pay virtually any cost to protect those they consider family, including other members of their gangs. Because of their loyalty, Greasers are willing to be ostracized by others, especially the Socs. Members of Greaser gangs refuse to accept any compromise that might threaten their status as a Greaser; they are usually proud to be recognized as members of their group.…

The Socs from The Outsiders all can be compared to a gentleman named Richard Cory from "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson. Cory and the Socials all dress nicely and are in higher class. To the poorer people, such as the greasers, it seems like the Socs have everything; money, family, a nice house, and a good education, but just like Richard Cory, they have problem. They face struggles that are different than regular people. Average people have to get money and a job while the Socs and Richard Cory are always being pressured to be perfect. One specific Socs, Cherry Valance, is much like Richard Cory. It may seem like she has the perfect life, but in reality, she had problems people like Ponyboy have never heard of. Everyone wanted to…

Because the “Greasers” and the “Socs” are byproducts of the environment they were born in and live in, they stick to together and treat each other like brothers, even though they aren't and most likely will never be related. “Or I could've gotten one of the gang to come along, one of the four boys Darry and Sosa and I have grown up with and consider family. We're almost as close as brothers; when you grow up in a tight-knit neighborhood like ours you get to know each other real well.” (3, Hinton) In almost every major event in the story, one of the boys is there for either Ponyboy or Johnny. When Johnny died, each and every single one of the group mourned his death. It hit some especially hard, like Ponyboy and Dally, where Ponyboy pretends that he was the one that killed Bobby, just so he doesn't have to face the fact that Johnny died. Dally just completely broke, to the point where he wanted to die, because Johnny was the last thing that Dally loved in this world. The same goes for the “Socs”. While we don't really know the “Socs” side of the story, the author still gives us some information about what happened to the “Socs” when Bobby was murdered. Randy, One of Bobby’s best friends, wanted to stop fighting completely after his best friend was killed. Because of Bobby’s death, Randy finally realized that no matter what the “Greasers” do, whether they win or not, they will always be at the bottom, and the “Socs” will always be the ones with the lucky breaks. In the Outsiders, the “Greasers and the “Socs” show that in a world that spits out people who are the aftermath of the corrupt environment, in a world that family can mean nothing, people that share the same ideals, the same past, same future, will stay together, blood related or not. “Byrdes of on kynde and color flok and flye allwayes together.” -William Turner, The Rescuing of Romish…

Over the years we’ve seen people divided socially by attitudes, money, and lifestyles. In The Outsiders they too are divided socially by attitudes, money, and lifestyles. Although there really isn’t much difference between the Greasers and the Socs, they are divided. There are some similarities between the Greasers and the Socs. The kids are about the same age, each group has problems the other group doesn’t know about, and they live in the same town just on different sides. They both like going to the drive-in movies and they both rumble. Ponyboy and Cherry enjoy the same sunset although they view it from different sides of the city. The last similarity is that they are in tight knit gangs. Although it’s really not a gang, it’s just a close group of friends hanging together. The story focuses more on the differences that are viewed from either side.…

The greasers see something different in them, the socs should be the worst of the worst, they are the ones who causes all the fights. Pony and most other greasers feel like outsiders compared to the socs, in my opinion, the greasers and socs can be so different and yet can also be fairly similar. My first reason on why Pony feels like an outsider from the Socs, is how he has long greasy hair, most greasers have long greasy hair, it’s kind of their thing, but Socs are the ones with short blond hair. “It was my pride. It was long and silky, just like Soda’s only a little redder. Our hair was tuff - we didn’t have to use much grease on it. (71),” Pony really cared about his hair, it was his image, it was his hair that made him different from the socs. My second reason is that people assume he’s a criminal, most greasers are know to be the worst, the ones who start fight and the ones who get in trouble with the police, yet most of the soc are the ones that cause trouble and never gets caught. In my opinion, they don't have to worry about getting in trouble, because they know that can get out of it, but the greasers are the ones who are targeted, because they seem like the “real criminals.” “On the front page of the second section was the headline: JUVENILE DELINQUENTS TURN HEROES. (107),” on the newspaper, they called Pony a “Juvenile Delinquent,” assuming that Pony is bad, and they say he turns a hero, as if being a “Juvenile Delinquent” turning good is different or new. Say if it was a socs doing that, it wouldn’t need to be on the news, the socs are the so called, “Good KIds,” so it’s “Normal” for them, but it’s different for the greasers. The last reason on why Pony feels like an outsider from the socs, is how different Pony dresses from other socs. Both of their senses of style are completely different, “I only mean that most greasers do things like that, just like we wear our…
