Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh, India
The Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh, India.

On June 2nd and 3rd 2008, I was conducted my research on this site. I come from a multicultural family who always appreciated both the visual and perceptual meaning of art. When I was growing up, my family would encourage us (me and my younger siblings) to acknowledge the concept and beauty of the efforts that one expressed in their collection, whatever it may be. That has inspired me so much that I paint as well as sketch, from time to time when I can. I have been doing so for over ten years now, which has led me to the history and collections of this site. Chandigarh, India is known for being the dream city of the first Prime Minister, Sh. Jawaharlal Nehru, and planned by his architect, Le Corbusier. Chandigarh is the capital for two states, Haryana and Punjab. But this country is to be considered as a Union Territory, and is administered by the government. Chandigarh is well known for its modern architecture and well-designed landscaping, which became an up rise to the 20th Century.
The museum was established back in August 1947, which many fine collections of art were once house at the Central Museum in the capital of Punjab. By April 1949, the divisions of collections took place, and were disseminated to the cities of not only Chandigarh, but also Amritsar, Shimla and Patiala. The museum has four wings which are comprised of The Art Gallery, Natural History Museum, and Chandigarh Architecture Museum & The National Gallery of Portraits. The museum’s welcome page has vibrant colors and clear images of the collections available provide the user with tabs that can direct them to the section of their choice (whether it is from sculpture to contemporary art to dinosaur artifact and so on). The Copyright for the website is dated to 2005-2006, and the author is listed as the main title of the site ”Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh, India”. The site also provides the user a

As an art student, I find the art that we learn about in class very interesting because it is art that I would never be interested in, but yet after learning the details I enjoy them. Although I don’t mind learning art through power points, I find physically looking at art more enjoyable. Getting the whole experience of physical artwork is a more exciting way to learn and catches my interest more, which is why I was so excited to visit a new museum and look at some art. For this assignment I decided to go to the LACMA museum. I have been to many museums before, but I have not visited the Los Angeles County Museum of Art yet so I was very excited. I find a lot of art very fascinating, but I am more interested in the more contemporary and modern arts. I am a design major so I was drawn to the sculptural art pieces that were displayed outside the building. One piece in particular that I found very beautiful and fascinating was an outside display entitled “Urban Light”.…

The trip to the Nelson-Atkins Museum was an insightful and eye opening experience. It was my second trip to a large art museum, the first one being The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Though I am not one you would call an art connoisseur, I do take interest in specific art pieces. I often find myself wondering what the artist was thinking about when painting or constructing a piece of work. I wonder what emotions they might have been going through or if someone unknown inspired them to create such things. Obviously sometimes such information is known but I am not sure I always believe it. I also speculate about the artist’s families, and if any of them were as talented as the artists themselves, as if maybe it was inherited or something.…

The two museums that were visited were the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). While the MOCA held artist that were fairly new, the LACMA held quite a few of well known artist such as Jackson Pollock, Maynard Dixon, or Thomas Hart Benton. When visiting MOCA the most interesting artwork that was appealing was "War Never Ends" by Mathew Monahan, and when visiting the LACMA the most interested artwork that was appealing to me was "Mountain of the Holy Cross" by Thomas Moran. Through proper analysis of each of these artworks and artists, it will help show a better understanding of each artist as an individual and their mindset when creating artwork.…

I went to the North Carolina Museum of Art on April 8th, a beautiful and sunny day. Being around the museum conjured a sense of nostalgia to my middle school days when I took a field trip to the museum. Since that last visit I have gained a better understanding about art and what goes into every piece of work. I have also gained more experience, back then I did not know how to shade properly and did not know a thing about composition. Now, I have a greater appreciation for every stroke of a brush and color applied. The reason I chose the North Carolina Museum of Art was solely to re-experience the art with my new artistic eye. While walking through the museum, I searched for that one piece of art that would catch my eye and inspire me to talk…

The reddish strokes in the space above the hat could represent anxiety or uncertainty, which is what his facially expression seems to present to the viewer as well. The grayish paint strokes represented in the negative space outside van Gogh’s image sharply contrasts with the orange, yellow and reddish colors in the facial area and hat, which adds to the overall boldness and vibrancy of the painting. In addition, the space appears to be illusionistic, as the painter depicts an illusion (van Gogh himself) of the three-dimensional spatial world on a two-dimensional…

If you live in Dallas, most likely you have been to Northpark Mall. However, did you ever notice that Northpark is also a museum? Sort of. Most art people do not know about it, and the shoppers do not seem to care, but the place is owned by Ray Nasher of Nasher Sculpture Center, and he has placed an impressive percentage of his collection in front of Neiman’s, Barney’s, Victoria’s Secret, and the Watch Hut. For the sole purpose and interest in the art presented throughout the mall, I chose to visit Nasher Sculpture Center located in the Dallas Art District.…

I researched the different means to get my images out to people who would enjoy them. Small doubts crept into the periphery but I was looking ahead. No downward spirals, the only way was forward. I learned the formatting rules and created a cover. I published my first coloring book on January 25th, 2017 and I continue to draw. Two sometimes three images in a day came through. After visiting the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston for the first time, I observed many interesting works of art representing various time periods. Of all the paintings that I saw last week, two landscaped pieces seemed to stick out in my mind; Andre Derain’s The Turning Road and Thomas Hart Benton’s Haystack. Though these two art works are similar in subject matter, they clearly reflect the different styles and time periods of their artists; the abstract Derain being a Fauvist and the more realistic painter Benton representing the American Scene style as a Regionalist.…

During a recent visit to the San Antonio Museum of Art, I was able to view many pieces and types of artwork. This particular museum exhibits pieces that come from the period of the Ancient Egyptians all the way up to modern art. It was a very interesting experience and one that I would definitely like to repeat in the future. The piece that was most interesting to me was a Roman floor mosaic that depicts The Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs. A mosaic is a picture or pattern created by fixing together mall pieces of stone, glass, tile and other materials (DeWitte, Larmann and Shields 629)…
