They brought about a new style of music that had never really been played before. The band consists of four members, but would go through many different guitarist and drummers throughout the years for number of reasons. The Red Hot Chili Peppers worked through the hardships of being a very famous rock band in the 90’s, and rose to the top to become one of the major influences on rock and roll.…
The creation of rock and roll (shortened to rock ’n roll) happened over several generations. It was created from different races, religions, and musical rebels. In the early 1900’s African Americans in the southern United States played blues and spiritual music. Robert Johnson began playing blues on his guitar in the 1930’s. This was a great influence on rock ’n roll generations later. In the first half of the 1900’s many white musicians were playing and listening to country music. “All this new stuff they call rock ’n’ roll, why, I’ve been playing that for years now . . . Ninety percent of rock-and-roll artists came out of the church, their foundation is the church.” This is a quote Rosetta Tharpe stated when talking about rock and roll, and she is not wrong. She has been cited as an influence by many pioneers of rock music such as the great Elvis. If Elvis was the father of rock and roll, then Sister Rosetta Tharpe was its godmother. Sister Rosetta Tharpe grew up in a highly musical family playing guitar at the ripe age of six for her mother who played the mandolin. In the 1920s her family would move to Chicago and there she would develop her love for blues and jazz music. A love that would influence her playing style…

After the American Civil War the black spirituals were developed toward harmonized versions, often sung in rural areas. Like the white gospel song, the modern black gospel song is a descendant of the spiritual and is instrumentally accompanied. Black gospel music is closely related to the spiritual, the work song, and blues and often includes jazz rhythms and instruments alongside clapping and often…

West Africa was soon to be convulsed by the arrival of Europeans and become the advent of the transatlantic slave trade. Ships from Europe, bound for America, appeared on the horizon, and their captains and sailors-carrying muskets, swords, and shackles-landed on the coast, walked up the beach in their strange clothes, looked around, and demanded slaves. A horrific chapter in history had begun, and neither Africa nor America would be the same again. (Awmiller 14)…

“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything,” quoted by Plato. Music is a way in where you can escape all things in life. It’s like your exit out of all matters. You play it when you’re mad, sad, happy, or just simply need a little uplifting. There are different genres of music. You have pop, rock, classical, R&B, hip hop, contemporary gospel, jazz, blues, and much more. However, gospel has been transformed throughout time.
