Gorilla Persuasive Speech
The death of a gorilla makes the world weep yet the many innocent deaths happening everyday have no impact on us. Why? Why does a father beg for his child to live? Why does a mother carry her child door to door asking for help? Why does a husband watch his wife die in his arms? WHY DOES A CHILD HAVE TO WATCH HIS PARENTS DIE? I'll tell you! The dying of a goriilla was hyped about all over media which lead to money making for the zoo. The death of an innocent isn't worth a penny! Initially we see everyone talking about them but 2 days later no one remembers anything. there's no business for news channels if they continuously tell us about death of the innocents. We as humans want new stories everyday, we want the latest not the same old story

The most popular nickname for the Skyline GT-R is “Godzilla”. I like to call it the “King Of The Streets” though because of its Japanese origin and its immense power. You must be wondering why it’s nicknamed the “Godzilla”. The reason being is that in the 1990 Australian Car Championship, Nissan’s R32 GT-R won the race and knocked the, in my opinion, retarded Ford Sierra off the podium that it held for a small amount of time. Ryan McElroy, contributor of Car Keys claims that, “From 1991, Australia was the GT-R’s first export market, and after it knocked the venerable Ford Sierra Cosworth off the podium at the Australian Touring Car Championship, Australian press started to refer to it as “Godzilla, the monster from…

Did you hear? Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus, as well as a vast variety of other forms of animal entertainment, are either shut down or in the midst of doing so. This is due to the events that have happened in the past few decades involving these types of recreation, from the death of competitive swimmer Keltie Byrne that the past away in 1991 after being submerged under water and dragged around a tank by three orcas, all the way to 2016 wherein a Cincinnati zoo a gorilla name Harambe was ultimately shot and killed due to a baby falling into its enclosure. Whether it is an animal dying or a person these events are changing the minds of the populous that go and…

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the word monster is defined as an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening. But is that what our modern day society really believes a monster is? Through time what people expect to see in a monster has changed. When you think of how people originally thought of aliens and vampires, you realize it’s a lot different than what we think of them today. Originally vampires were thought of being a corpse that would leave its grave at night and feed off the living by biting their necks. They weren’t able to be exposed to the sunlight or be in the sight of garlic. The idea of vampires have been around for millions of years and they have always represented something very horrifying.…

That being said wild animals that are captured for zoos are in desperate need of our empathy as well. I personally growing up have had a somewhat positive view of zoos. As I got older and learned more about them my option of them has drastically changed. In our age of smartphones and laptops, we are in desperate need of a positive influence to get kids interested in animals and the natural world. Growing up I always believed that zoo’s played a big role in this. This changed however after I read “Thought To Exist In the Wild” By Derek Johnson. Derek Johnson systematically tears apart the argument that zoos are educational when he equates zoos to pornography; they are just a superficial representation of the real thing. The whole idea of keeping animals in an enclosure teaches children that animals are inferior beings in need of our support. Which leads to believe that it is ok to treat them cruelly. Children do not even have the desired learning outcomes that we would expect. Derrick Johnson points out that when you go to a zoo you don’t see any awe or wonder. You just see children making faces at the animals and poking on the glass (Jensen, 2007). Anyone who has spent a reasonable amount of time at a zoo would have a hard time arguing with him. If children are not even learning more about animals the only reason we have zoos is purely for entertainment. Now some people…

Several questions occurred to me. Why is it that people's first reaction was not exaltation at saving a child's life, but outrage over killing an animal? Why is there more outrage about the death of Harambe the gorilla and Cecil the lion than millions of babies being aborted, or Christian's dying in Syria? Yes, it's unfortunate that the incident happened at all, or that an endangered species had to be put down, but what does it say about us?…

It’s important to recognize how much of this goes on because animals play an important role in our world. To make them suffer even more than they already have to is outrageous. “Inhumane Suffering One of the most controversial aspects of hunting is the prospect that an animal may be suffering from a long and painful death,” one article says while talking about this specific issue. It comes to show that animals are greatly affected when hunters kill them. Another article heavily discusses Cecil’s death saying, “the killing of Cecil has sparked an international outcry and a backlash against big game trophy hunting.” Cecil was a lion in Zimbabwe who was the hot topic for his death and is the perfect example of the suffering of animals because he was one of many animals who experienced a death from this…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
