To start, GMO foods provide nutrients that are needed in the daily life. According to Nelson, Bryan, “The GMO banana, is a vitamin enriched version of a common East African cooking banana. Vitamin A deficiency is estimated to kill up to 700,000 children annually and causes about 300,000 cases of blindness globally each year, so the enriched banana has the potential to significantly impact public health for the better.” This piece of evidence states that GM foods provide nutritional benefits such as an increase in Vitamin A. It also decreases malnutrition all across the world. Also. GMO foods should not be banned in america because it can prevent deadly diseases. Scientists at the University of Central Florida, demonstrated a possible way to cure Type-1 diabetes, “We fed diabetic mice capsules of insulin derived from genetically engineered lettuce which provided lasting relief for millions of type-1 diabetes sufferers.” This is explaining how type-1 diabetes can be cured because of GMOs. Not only does GMOs not prevent disease, but GMOs help prevent diseases. Lastly, GMOs have economic benefits. According to UNU.EDU, “Of 15.4 million farmers that planted GM crops in 2010, over 90 percent (14.4 million) were resource-poor farmers in developing countries, including in three African countries: Burkina Faso, South Africa and Egypt. Almost 100,000 farmers in Burkina Faso cultivated GM cotton crops, which have benefited Burkina Faso’s economy by over US $100 million per year.” By adding GMO’s into the economy, farmers are now able to gain so much profit and these GMO’s are boosting the economy. All in all, GMOs have many benefits including economically, nutritionally, and
