Global Warming
Global Warming Is Not Anthropogenic
Global Warming is the increase of Earth’s average temperature over the past one hundred years, Earth’s surface temperatures have risen one degree Fahrenheit in the last century. Global Warming is a problem because it is causing ice caps to melt and sea levels to rise. Burning fossil fuels is also releasing more greenhouses gases making temperature rise even more. Temperatures have risen globally because of an upsurge of greenhouse gases and also the Earth’s natural changes. Scientist says that global warming is caused naturally and not caused by human activities. Do you like the idea of ice caps melting? The fact that the ice is melting means there is nothing to reflect the sunlight hitting the ice. The melting ice, which stores methane from decaying dead organisms will be released into the atmosphere. Methane is a greenhouse gas, which then will lock in more warm air, making our surface temperature rise even more. Global Warming is not anthropogenic because of the following two scientific reasons, first, the evidence of the Medieval Warming period, second, the inaccurate and unreliable computer models. However those that agree that Global Warming is anthropogenic would say that human activities have released carbon emissions into the atmosphere, causing the Earth’s surface to warm up. The first scientific evidence for my position is the temperature graph for the last 1,800 where there was a period of a warming that was hotter than today called the Medieval Warming period. The second scientific evidence for my position is how scientist doesn’t use the hockey stick graph anymore and how inaccurate and unreliable computer models are in predicting future climates.
More specifically, scientist say to look at the “Hockey Stick” graph (figure 1) to see how accurate it is. Figure 1.
If you look closely, it only shows the temperature for the past about eight hundred years. What it doesn’t show is the temperature 1,800 years ago

The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Growing up I heard this phrase in folktales as a “wolf cry”-- a cry that is so ridiculous that nobody would believe it. Now that global warming is a major environmental issue, the saying doesn’t sound so out of place. Most people might say: what is global warming? That’s the question that was running through my mind when I first heard we were watching a documentary on it in my English 130 class. The film is Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth and it is about the causes of global warming and what it is doing to our planet. Being an environmentally involved citizen and growing up with conservative Republicans as parents, I was torn between not really liking Gore and this extreme reality that I felt was an impending doom on Mother Earth. The day before my writing class my dad called me and I brought up the fact that I was watching Gore’s film; his reaction was, “I’m paying for you to do that?” I tried to tell him it wasn’t about Gore and when I brought up global warming he claimed it was a scheme to get money and that our wor...…

In modern America few problems prove to be as fundamentally problematic as the theory of human induced global warming. Its repeated coverage from within the media and political arena are influencing people worldwide, putting those who think differently in an outcast shadow. The truth of the matter is, to not believe in human induced global warming has become politically incorrect and unacceptable in the public eye. The theory of human induced global warming can be defined as the rise in temperature through human pollution of greenhouse gases resulting in catastrophic alterations in the earth 's environment. However, human pollution of greenhouse gases is so minor that it is not a contribution to the Earth 's climate change, and a natural cause is the only logical explanation. In order to understand how emittance of greenhouse gases has a relation to the Earth 's climate, it is necessary to understand The Greenhouse Effect.…

Man, vs Nature. Scientists have realized is causing more damage to the environment then nature is. Science has proven that it is greatly likely that warming trends are human induced. According to data from Climate.Nasa.gov warming trends are preceding at a rate that is unpresented in the past 1300 years. Satellites and new technology have allowed scientist to see the bigger picture. Nasa has no questions that greenhouse gasses have caused the Earth to warm. Carbon dioxide and other gassed are…

Through the eyes of most scientists, global warming is seen as a very serious and severe threat. The actions taken by humans, such as industry and consumption of fossil fuels plus the increase in population and agriculture have played a big part in global warming. If something is not done soon the results could be very bad.…

Evidence of Climate changeOne of the most important sources of evidence for climatic change can be found in the Antarctic where ice has preserved a 400,000-year record of levels of CO2, CH4 and temperature levels in the atmosphere. Scientists study the gas bubbles in the ice using ice cores extracted from the ice and then transported to a laboratory. Here these are evaluated and compared with more recent ice cores. From these, scientists can tell how the climate has changed in these 400,000…

Relative to the period 1860–1900, global temperatures on both land and sea have increased by 1.4 °F, according to the instrumental temperature record; the urban heat island is not believed to be significant. Since 1979, land temperatures have increased about twice as fast as ocean temperatures. Temperatures in the lowest portion of the earth 's atmosphere (troposphere) have increased between 0.22 and 0.4 °F per decade since 1979, according to satellite temperature measurements. Over the one or two thousand years before 1850, temperature is believed to have been relatively stable, with possibly regional fluctuations such as the Medieval Warm Period or the Little Ice Age. Based on estimates by NASA 's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, 2005 was the warmest year since reliable, widespread instrumental measurements became available in the late 1800s, exceeding the previous record set in 1998 by a few hundredths of a degree. Estimates prepared by the World Meteorological Organization and the UK Climatic Research Unit concluded that 2005 was the second warmest year, behind 1998 (Wilkipedia, 2006).…

While all these facts are true, the main evidence linking humans to global warming is in the models. Exponential rise in surface temperatures is not a natural trend, despite models of all climate factors, the only way to produce the rate of warming we are seeing now is through unnatural causes. A rise in anthropogenic CO2 (that is, carbon dioxide produced by human activities) over the years is the only plausible explanation for the high concentration of greenhouse gases today. And although we could stop burning fossil fuels today, the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere…

Scientists say it is further evidence that modern-day global warming isn't natural, but the result of rising carbon dioxide emissions that have rapidly grown since the Industrial Revolution began roughly 250 years ago. Scientists say that if natural factors were still governing the climate, the Northern Hemisphere would probably be destined to freeze over again in several thousand years. Instead, scientists believe the enormous increase in greenhouse gases caused by industrialization will almost certainly prevent that.…

Often times, history repeats itself. This is true in life, in war, and in the Earth’s cycle. In the 1970’s many environmentalists were concerned about “global cooling” because of manmade atmospheric pollution blocking out the sun, which would freeze the earth, kill all life forms, and make Earth completely uninhabitable. Since about 1940, the Earth did in fact appear to be cooling but then in the…
