Global Warming
The threat of Global Warming is real and as severe as Al Gore makes it to be in his film “An Inconvenient Truth”. Humans are contributing to climate change. There is proof that we see in our everyday lives such as major increases in natural disasters, Antarctica, and the raise in carbon dioxide levels. When people say Global Warming is happening what actually is happening is our sun’s rays are heating up our Earth. Some of the rays bounce off Earth and go back to space. On the way back to space some of the rays are trapped in the atmosphere. Global Warming is thickening our atmosphere which makes more of the sun’s rays get trapped in our atmosphere. Al Gore’s movie “The Inconvenient Truth” believes that humans are the main reason for climate change. While Martin Durkin’s movie “The Great Global Warming Swindle” says that humans are not at all to blame for climate change. Al Gore’s movie claims that Global Warming is real and very severe; meanwhile Martin Durkin’s movie claims that Global Warming is real but not as severe as Al Gore and the media says it is.
In recent years, as Global Warming has been getting worse, according to Al Gore the amount of natural disasters has been continuing to increase. In the past 30 years, the amount of Category 4 or 5 hurricanes have almost doubled; there has also been a major increase in destructiveness of typhoons, increase in floods and droughts. Not only are weather related disasters happening due to Global Warming but there are certain diseases being spread more than usual because of Global Warming. For example, Malaria, a disease usually carried by mosquitoes, has reached places with very high altitudes, like the Columbian Andes which is 7000 feet above sea level. According to Al Gore, these natural disasters are not going to stop naturally they will continuously increase more and more.
