1.1 Theoretical Background
The shift in global business has created a new form approach in global business landscape, thereby forcing firms to rethink their marketing strategies. The development in the global business environment stands out as having a dominating role in this shift. It is the business demand on the internet for increase and greater bandwidth. Global business is seen as the means to facilitate e- commerce by offering rapid transfer rate to open up multimedia delivery to small and medium size firms and individuals.(Dennis and Harris 2002, 12) The first shift has to do with the rapid growth and greater involvement of firms' in global business activities. In particular, the tremendous growth in outsourcing activities has necessarily engaged new entrants in global business-to-business (B2B) activities (i.e., importers) to which much greater attention should be paid. The second change is the transition to amore holistic approach to managing supply chain systems through greater coordination of entire distribution channels, alliances, and relational exchanges. To address the needs of their customers, firms require harmony and continuity in their supply chain systems and as supply sources are increasingly global, for example, through increased outsourcing, relational exchanges and alliances have become much more important. The third development fostering a major change in how firms conduct business and compete is the transition to electronic forms of exchange, particularly with respect to information access, storage, and retrieval. (Dennis et al) maintain that the rate of innovation and technological change puts extraordinary and unique pressure on the companies as they struggle with the demand of 24/7 economy (ibid). As we continue to embrace the advent of information technology we should also remember that all cannot be done or will be done by information technology, even thought it plays a great role in today business.     Learning new theories and frameworks is usually a burden on a person to understand and imagine its application in real life cases. However, the Gobal Tech simulation case was an amazing chance for connecting what we have learnt (Why, What, and How organizational change works) to what we have discussed on the first day through cases and articles. From my point of view, the simulation gave the team three main added values. First, since it took place on the second day of the EMBA in addition to being introduced to the new group members, each member of the team got the chance of experiencing the teamwork activity with his team. Thus, it allowed for knowing each other better through the engagement in the discussions and ideas sharing. Second, the simulation gave the team the exposure and challenge of being responsible for putting an organization on a change process, which required that all the members should be aligned to the cause. Third, we have learned the importance of working within a specified time frame and budget, which are of equal importance to the change processes and tactics selection. Finally, for me, before the course and simulation, I believed that the organizational change is all about the changes what will be applied. However, now, I realized that the act phase including the changes required should be implemented after several core phases that direct the success or the failure of the organizational change. In other words, the change process starts with the unfreeze step in order to be able to implement the changes then refreeze the organization.…

    Grolsch, a company with a strong history and a highly rated product, has just been purchased by SABMiller. The company is evaluating its global strategy in light of the acquisition and determining how to position and sell its beer going forward. Grolsch has positioned itself well to compete internationally and has leveraged several tools (e.g. the MABA framework, strategic analysis) to effectively expand abroad.
