Global Nitrogen Trifluoride (NF3) And Fluorine Gas (F2) Market Analysis By 2020
Global NF3 and F2 market is expected to reach USD 1,266.8 million and USD 17,526.0 million respectively by 2020, according to a new study by Grand View research, Inc. Growing demand for LCD televisions, owing to their low power consumption, is expected to drive NF3 demand in silicon wafer cleaning applications. F2 demand for uranium enrichment is expected to surge in line with uranium production as a result of growth in nuclear power production.

Semiconductor chips were the largest application segment for NF3 with a demand of 6.9 kilo tons in 2013 owing to growth in semiconductor industry in Asia Pacific. F2 was widely used in uranium enrichment making it the largest application segment in 2013 accounting for demand of 26.5 kilo tons. Fluorine is used in the form of UF6 in order to impart fissionable properties to uranium isotopes.

The report “NF3 & F2 Market Analysis By Application (Semiconductor Chips, Flat Panel Display, Solar Cells, Uranium Enrichment, Sulfur Hexafluoride, Electronic Cleaning) And Segment Forecasts To 2020,” is available now to Grand View Research customers and can also be purchased directly at http://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/nf3-and-f2-market

Further key findings from the study suggest:

• Global NF3 demand was 15.1 kilo tons in 2013 and is expected to reach 34.2 kilo tons by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 12.4% from 2014 to 2020. Global F2 demand was 56.3 kilo tons in 2013 and is expected to reach 129.2 kilo tons by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 12.6% from 2014 to 2020.
• Flat panel display is expected to be the fastest growing application of NF3 at a CAGR of 12.9% from 2014 to 2020, owing to high demand for LCD televisions. In the global F2 market, electronic cleaning is expected to be the fastest growing application at a CAGR of 13.9% from 2014 to 2020 mainly due to growing consumer base of electronic devices as a result of wider application scope.
• Asia Pacific had the largest demand for NF3 and F2 accounting for

1For electronic products, it has large market in the future. The market is potentially very large with apparent high profit margins at least at the early stages. What is more, there are not many European suppliers who have an electronics capability—in terms of design through to manufacture, so less competitors we have. Orders are won at this time on the technical merits of the product, not on price.…

Moissan discovered fluorine in 1886. It is a chemical element with the symbol F, atomic number 9, 9 electrons and protons, 10 neutrons, and the atomic mass of 19. Being the lightest halogen, it has one stable isotope, fluorine19. At standard pressure and temperature, the element is a pale yellow gas as a liquid its a bright yellow. The electrons are located outside the nucleus of the atom. Electrons are organized in such a way that the space between them are inter dispersed. Within this space are distinct distances up to 100,00 times away from the nucleus of the atom. Reactions with fluorine are often sudden or explosive. Many substances are generally regarded as unreactive such as powdered steel, glass fragments, and asbestos fibers. Asbestos fibers are readily consumed by cold fluorine gas. Wood and even water will burn with flames when subjected to a jet of fluorine, without the need for a spark. Fluorine will melt at -219.6 C and boil at -188 C. Fluorine is added to city water supplies in the proportion of about one part per million to help prevent tooth decay. Sodium fluoride (NaF), stannous (II) fluoride (SnF2) and sodium mono fluorophosphates (Na2PO3F) all fluorine compounds added to toothpaste, also to help prevent tooth decay. Fluorine is found in nature in the form of calcium fluoride, called fluorite, which forms regular crystals. California has many fluorite deposits. There are also deposits in Alaska and Argentina Fluorine is the most electronegative and reactive of all elements. Until World War II, there was no commercial production of elemental fluorine. The nuclear bomb project and nuclear energy. Applications, however, made it necessary to produce large quantities. Fluorine and its compounds are used in producing uranium (from the hexafluoride) and more than 100 commercial fluorochemicals, including many high-temperature plastics. Hydrofluoric acid is used to etch light bulbs and other glass. Fluorochlorohydrocarbons are extensively…
