Global Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) Market - Size, Share, Trends, Analysis, Research and Report, 2014 -2018
About Flexible AC Transmission System

Flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) is deployed in grid transmission system, which is used to minimize the losses in the transmission line and increase the grid power output. The conventional grid transmission system consists of mechanical switched shunt and series capacitors, reactors, and synchronous generator which are used to minimize the losses.
However, the use of these devices results in slow response and consequently lowers the performance of the grid. The FACTS is used to mitigate the conventional grid transmission line problems with the use of highly efficient semiconductor devices, whose response time is very high, and reduces the faults in the transmission line and minimize the losses.

Competition in the electricity power industry, coupled with continued load growth requires that the existing transmission system assets are utilised more effectively and some times closer to their technical limits. As the existing AC lines become loaded closer to their thermal capacity with increasing losses and reduced power quality we face the risk of declining network stability. One solution would be to simply build new, more powerful AC lines.…

Human beings are well accomsisted with the electrical and the components .we may live without having food and shelter but we can’t live without electricity. We the humans are efficient in production, but are not as much efficient in transmitting .The percentage of loss of power during transmission and distribution is approximated as 26%. The main reason for power loss during transmission and distribution is the resistance of wires used for grid. The efficiency of power transmission can be improved to certain level by using high strength composite over head conductors and underground cables that use high temperature but, the transmission is still inefficient. According to the World Resource Institute (WRI), India’s electricity grid has the highest transmission and distribution losses in the world – a whopping 27%. Numbers published by various Indian government agencies put that number at 30%, and greater than 40%.…
