In this article by Binoy Stanley, there are various accounts of ghosts, registered through photographs and videos. Along with the evidence of these supposed ghosts, Stanley provides background information that gives context to when the photo or video was taken. Through the excerpts, the reader realizes that many of the photos were taken in the late 1800s or early 1900s, making it difficult to make out the said “ghosts”, considering the technology of the time. The ghosts could be a product of issues that occurred while the photos were being developed from film, causing the evidence to be invalid and illegitimate. However, there are some photos that include an identifiable figure or person, which are established as ghosts because the photographer supposedly claimed that the figure was not present at the time it was taken. This cannot be considered as legitimate though since there is no official source that confirms these claims; without Stanley providing the excerpts, these would be viewed as normal photos of people or shadows.…

The new "Ghostbusters" movie was released on the 15th of July and along with the movie's release came the release of the soundtrack. On the soundtrack is the song Girls Talk Boys by 5 Seconds of Summer. If you are not a fan of the band, I recommend that you still listen to the song. It is very different than their typical sound and the song has a funky, retro kind of vibe to it. Even the vocals are not of the typical pop rock style. There is more of a groove to the entire song that I would actually compare to DNCE. If you are into the band, you will appreciate and his ever-present bass guitar. The bass and electric in this song give it a sound unlike what is prominent in today's music and I think this song is such a bop. Give it a listen and…

One of the main themes and perhaps the most obvious is the inspiring idea of chasing one's dream and never giving up until success is found. In the movie, we find Homer Hickam, an average small-town boy, intrigued by the launch of Soviet satellite Sputnik and infatuated with the idea of joining the space race and making his own rockets. Homer becomes inspired to better himself. He wants to successfully build rockets and with further encouragement from his teacher, Miss Riley, he and his friends enter a science fair in which they have the chance to receive college scholarships. This is Homer's dream and he sets his goals accordingly to achieve his dream. Homer doesn't allow any obstacle, even family troubles, to stop him from obtaining his dream. His recognition of his goals and persistence in achieving them is a very admirable thing to do and is something that still happens all the time.…

In the movie The Others, there are many things that made me think more in depth about the aspect of horror and gothic. The film starts off with the mother, Grace, screaming when she woke up. Many things went through my head when that happened. As I thought about it more and more after the movie, I began to think that Grace woke up after killing herself and her 2 children. After she woke up, they began to tell the story of how they got to the end, where they are all dead.…
