Gettysburg Speech
Once Upon a Time, The Gettysburg Address and, Views of the Wall all have a power symbol to convey an idea about the individual's role in society. All stories are about people struggling in a society. All people struggle in life. From Once Upon a Time, reports of intrusion were being documented by the homeowners (from lines 138-146) and suggests to the wife that she should make the fences and walls even bigger around the house. The idea of having people ransacking her house and going through the family’s own personal belongings just haunts her all day and all night. The reports have been documented as daylight and in night time so the family would not have any idea if someone is planning on doing something to them. But you always have

“Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure” is a quote from the speech. This quote tells the reader that Abraham is dedicated to make a new nation and for everyone to be equal but everyone struggles and that is why it states that they can long endure. The speech also states that “we cannot dedicate” (from line 10). Everyone struggles, so does Abraham Lincoln because it was hard times and he was trying to build a new nation. In The Vietnam Wall, it takes the reader on a visit to the Vietnam war memorial. “Names, long lines, lines of names until they are the shape of the U.N. building taller than I am: I have walked into a grave. And everything I expect has been taken away, like that, quick” is a statement made by the poet. The poet just describes this memorial site and tells the reader about all the soldiers struggling to win the war and also struggling to stay alive. All the names were of people that died during this war. The people fighted and could not make it out alive.
